Introducing the 2024 Sports Captains

2024 IPS Swim Team Trials

Semester 1 Sports Captains

In year 6, students get the opportunity to apply to be a sport captain. Students compose a letter to Mr Bull stating why they believe they would make a good sports captain.

The roles of the sports captains include maintaining the PE equipment and organising equipment for year 6 sports training and match days. As well as supporting teachers to run the major sporting events at school such as years 3-6 athletics day, and the F - 2 athletics day.

Below are this year’s sports captains, there will be four in semester 1 and four in semester 2. If you need help with anything sport-related you can recognise the students by the sports captain badge.

2024 Ivanhoe Primary School Swim Team Trials

Last Wednesday, 47 students headed down to Ivanhoe Grammar School to trial out for the 2024 Ivanhoe Primary School Swim Team. The standard was very high, and competition was great. There were 6 other schools there from the Ivanhoe district and we used the meet to time each individual IPS student in a simulated race environment. It was a great experience to use starting blocks, starting guns and swim in a 50m pool.

A huge thankyou to everyone that trialled, you all put in a massive effort, but unfortunately not everyone can make it through.

Congratulations to the 27 students that did make it through to compete against the 9 other schools in our district on Thursday 29th February at the newly refurbished Northcote Pool.

The 27 students that will represent IPS are, Ashley T, Violet ES, Alexander P, Oliver L, Charlotte G, Adelphe B, William H, Ross R, Allegra T, Jude M, Max W, Niamh M, Ben T, Maddie C, Taz M, Harvey K, Anna M, Emma Z, Clementine D, Kane C, Tennyson B, Abigail P, Aryana L, Ella P, Ava P, Diva A, and Rafael B.

Good luck to all students!
