Learning and Innovation

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”

Henry Ford

What a pleasure it is to be joining the Brigidine Community in 2024. Learning at Brigidine is centred on our desire to foster in our girls a love of learning that is lifelong. In doing so, we aim to provide a range of learning experiences that allow our students to flourish and grow as learners and young women. Throughout 2024, students will continue to be challenged and empowered to learn and grow as women of strength and gentleness.

The commencement of a new academic year marks a time for renewing existing relationships and forming new learning connections with teachers and peers across all classes. Building these relationships takes time, and as teachers, we are developing lessons to understand each student's strengths and needs. We aim to be responsive to the diverse interests, abilities, and skills of our students. The upcoming weeks are an opportunity for students to actively participate in class, approach subjects with an open mind, and embrace academic challenges. This week, students have been encouraged to engage with teachers, discuss learning preferences, and ask questions so as to establish the foundation for a year of learning, growth, and success.

On Friday 2 February we celebrated the feast of our founder, St Brigid and as a community, we also had the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of our Graduating Class of 2023. The success we celebrated last week was a recognition of work, effort and considerable sacrifice made by members of the Class of 2023 and by their parents, families, teachers and fellow students who supported them.

I would like to take this opportunity to again congratulate our Distinguished Achievers for 2023. Their tenacity and dedication to learning was extraordinary. Of the examinable HSC cohort of 122 students, 49 students achieved an ATAR over 90. Additionally, 26 students received an ATAR of 95 and above while 6 students received an ATAR of 99 and above.

I would like to congratulate all of our 2023 Graduates on their remarkable success. Their pursuit of academic excellence and outstanding achievements resulted in our College placing 50th in the State. And first in Sydney Catholic Schools.

May this year be a journey of learning, growth, and blessings for each member of our Brigidine family.

Regards,
