Mathematics News

A big welcome to our new families at Holy Family and welcome back to our returning families for 2024. This year is set to be another big and exciting year in Mathematics education. First and foremost our Prep to Year 2 teachers are participating in an exciting program ‘Teaching for Impact in Mathematics’. This is derived from a partnership between Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic schools, OCHRE education and Teach Well.

OCHRE are a not for profit organisation who work with a community of teachers to develop a comprehensive library of evidence based, quality assured curriculum linked lessons and resources. Teach Well has a mission to empower teachers and schools leaders with support to enable the implementation of high impact practices in every classroom and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

We are excited to be a part of the first cohort of teachers and leaders to participate in this partnership and look forward to the learning opportunities for our entire school community.

We also have the Family Maths night coming up this year. Watch this space for more information.

Maths at home…..

Recipes are a great way to practice your mathematics skills at home. February 13th is shrove Tuesday. Why not get the kids involved in some traditional pancake making.

Measurement - Measure out ingredients, compare the size of pancakes from smallest to largest or measure the diameter (straight across the circle). Either way make sure you have fun!
