Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community

Prayer

Welcome back to another school year. I hope the Christmas break was an opportunity to rest and do some things with your family and friends, things that are difficult to find the time for in your busy lives.

Like all school years, there is a buzz of excitement in the classrooms, corridors and playground with our students catching up with their friends after the break.

Apart from our 22 new Foundation students who have started the year as if they have been at Sacred Heart for a number of years, we have five new students in other classes. We will introduce these five new students in our newsletter next week.

I pray that the year be one that delivers the hope you desire for our students and your family.

Some Tweets about the First Day of School (Not from Sacred Heart Parents)

It's important to set an alarm the first day of school, so you remember to pick up the kids

Today is the first day of school for my kids. They only go for 2 hrs. I get to drop them off, go home to use the bathroom and then go back to pick them up.

I asked my son what time he wanted me to wake him up on the 1st day of school: "6:30, so I have enough time to shower & cry."

Weird how the first day of school also coincides with the first day anybody has ever driven a car.

Yesterday was the first day of school and I found homework in my kids backpack five minutes before we had to leave. It was for me.

Opening of the School Year Mass

Our first whole school Mass will be a celebration of the opening of the 2024 school year. Traditionally we welcome our new Foundation students and present badges to our Year Six student leaders.

We are looking at celebrating this Mass on a week night this year.

An update on the date and time will be given in our newsletter next week.

School Instagram/Facebook

A great way to keep up with what's happening in our school, is through our school's Instagram and Facebook pages. We try to keep you as informed as possible about our "school's life", by putting up posts about the things that happen both inside and outside the classroom.

Audiri App

Whilst the school newsletter is emailed to all families each week, many families also choose to receive the newsletter and other correspondence through the Audiri App.

The App also gives parents the opportunity to send through a notification of their child's absence from school.

Information on how to download the App can be obtained from Cristina at the school office.

Icy Poles

Icy poles will again be sold each Friday this term for $1.00 commencing tomorrow.

Guitar/Keyboard Lessons

Our school offers private (or small group) guitar and keyboard lessons on a Tuesday. This is conducted by an outside company with details below on this page.

Students participating come out of class for their lesson on this day.

If you are interested in your child participating, an enrolment form can be obtained from Cristina at the school office.

If interested, Foundation students usually commence in the second half of the year.

Lunch Orders

Lunch orders will commence with the Parade College Canteen next week.

This year orders will be taken on a Wednesday, as the canteen is not open on a Friday.

As usual, if you want your child to order their lunch from the canteen, the order must be written on a bag with your child's name and class with the correct money enclosed.

The Parade canteen has given us the updated menu which can be found in the "Lunch Orders" section of this newsletter.

A hard copy can also be obtained from the school office.

School Closure Day

Please be aware that our first school closure day for staff professional development will be on Tuesday 12th March. I will organise with our out of school provider, to offer services on this day for interested families.

Yours Sincerely

Mark
