Debating Success!
We have had yet another great year of competing in the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) Schools Competition – the largest English-Language debating competition in the world. After five rounds of debates and two finals, we have so much success to celebrate.
Everyone’s a winner: All six of our Uni High teams competing in this year’s competition got at least one win. Our Year 9 team was undefeated.
Top of the table: Our A Grade (Year 11 & 12) team of Spencer, Naomi, Lucas, and Bea and our D Grade (Year 9) team of Lise, Samriddhi, and Twinkle both finished top of their tables, winning the A and D Grade competitions for the Melbourne region.
Finals: Our A and D teams progressed to the knock-out finals, putting them in the Top 30 teams in the state. Both were knocked out in two very close, high-quality debates on the topics of AI and art.
Great leadership: Our success in this year’s competition was made possible by Spencer’s leadership as our Debating Captain. Spencer, with the support of other students in our weekly lunchtime Debating Club, helped prepare us for the Schools Competition. Thank you, Spencer!
