Science Week 2024: A Celebration of Species Survival
Science Week 2024 was an exciting, action-packed event that focused on the theme "Species Survival." Students worked together in the fast-paced Escape Room, tackling survival challenges and winning prizes through innovative problem-solving. The energy and collaboration displayed during these activities were remarkable, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
There were wonderful submissions to this years’ artwork competition that explored the connection between science and creativity. Our winners were Sudeshna Ekbote, Year 9, in first place, Tyra Susanto (Year 8) in second place and Anita Prudkov (Yeat 9) in third place. Congratulations!
Our wonderful science teachers added to the excitement with captivating demonstrations, including glowing luminol, which illuminated the room and brought chemistry to life in a thrilling way. These interactive displays allowed students to experience science firsthand, making learning both educational and fun.
Uni High also participated in ANSTO’s Hackathon for the first time, a major highlight of the week. Students developed creative solutions to real-world environmental challenges, demonstrating their teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Their dedication to addressing species survival issues was inspiring and showed great promise for future scientific endeavors and an exploration of entrepreneurial explorations.
The week concluded with a much-anticipated trivia competition where there was an amazing turn out with 14 participating groups. All students competed enthusiastically and the vibe was electric. The trivia was a fitting end to a week filled with curiosity and learning, bringing everyone together to celebrate science in a fun and collaborative environment. Science Week 2024 was an incredible success, inspiring students with hands-on activities, teamwork, and innovative thinking, all centered around the vital theme of species survival. As the week came to a close, it was clear that the passion for science was elevated, leaving everyone eager for next year’s festivities.
