The Great Biscuit Bake Off: A Delicious Challenge for Year 8 Food Technology Students
Every year in Term 3, Year 8 Food Technology students at UHS eagerly participate in the much-anticipated Great Biscuit Bake Off. This exciting event not only allows students to showcase their food technology skills but also their creativity and design thinking. Over several weeks, students collaborate in groups, brainstorm and test various recipes to craft a unique biscuit design that reflects their individual themes.
The process begins with a base biscuit recipe, which serves as the foundation for their creations. Students then experiment with different flavours and decorations, infusing their biscuits with personal flair. Each group's creativity shines as they work on modifying their base recipe to bring their vision to life.
In addition to baking, students also design vibrant posters that serve as a backdrop for their final biscuit presentation. These artistic displays not only highlight their designs but also provide context and inspiration for their creations. Once completed, the posters are proudly displayed outside the Food Tech classroom, inviting the entire UHS community to participate in the fun. All students are encouraged to vote for their favourite biscuit designs.
There were so many fantastic biscuit designs, so it was hard to choose one winner from each class.
