OPEN CLASSROOMS

Last Friday we opened our classrooms to parents and carers. When parents and carers step into our classrooms and see where their child spends their day, we hope to deepen a sense of connection and trust. We aim to strengthen the bond between families and school with different opportunities for open classrooms each term. The vibe in our classrooms was happy and positive as students participated in activities alongside their visitors.

CAMPS

We are incredibly grateful for our dedicated staff, whose efforts make our camps such memorable experiences. Just two weeks ago, our Year 5 students enjoyed a fantastic camp, thanks to the hard work of staff. The year 5 camp was led by Ms Macklin and supported by Mr Landes, Mrs Cogan, Mr Suryadi, Ms Nakajima, Ms Bradley and Ms Kennedy. The camp located in Flinders featured exciting activities like canoeing and high ropes courses, all under blue skies whilst it was wild and windy back in Carnegie. By Friday afternoon, both students and staff were thoroughly exhausted but filled with great memories.

This week, our Year 3 and 4 students are at camp on Phillip Island Adventure Resort for three days of adventure. The 160 students are being supported by 16 CPS staff. The camp is led by Mrs Chadwick and Miss Fisher. Mr Nathan, Mrs Knight, Miss Lee, Mrs Spataro, Mrs Wiseman, Mr Boxer, Miss Lydeamore, Mr Rogelberg, Mr McKinnon, Mr Acklom, Mr. McCracken, Mrs Scrivener, Miss Kelly, Mrs O'Sullivan and Mrs Miller are all there to ensure students enjoy this experience in a safe manner. Thank you for the many hours of planning required to plan a camp. This is a major undertaking as we require replacement teachers to teach classes whose teachers are attending camp. Their itinerary includes canoeing, archery, flying fox challenges, a disco and a visit to the Koala Conservation Centre. We look forward to seeing them return tomorrow afternoon. We will send a Compass reminder to families with the expected return time tomorrow.

This is the first time CPS students have participated in camps at these locations, and early reports suggest that they have been highly successful, offering fresh and engaging experiences for everyone involved.

MUSIC FESTIVAL

It is such a pleasure walking through our school at the moment, not only are the builders working in the Main building, creating safe modern learning spaces for our students. This work appears to be running to schedule and we anticipate it being finished mid October, but the sounds of singing can be heard as students and staff prepare for our inaugural music festival in 2 weeks time. All students will perform on stage during the festival. They will also participate in a number of other activities. Parents and carers are invited to purchase tickets via Qkr. The ticket price is going towards the cost of the sound equipment, staging, silent disco and badge making.

The timetable for each class will be shared in the week leading up to the festival. Students will perform in addition to participating in activities, such as silent disco, badge making, face painting. Thank you to Mr Landes and Mrs Yoshida for the many hours of planning that goes into creating a day such as this.

Fathers Day and Special Friends Stall and BBQ

Thank you to our volunteers who cooked hundreds of sausages and vegetarian options last Friday afternoon. The crowds were huge with dads, granddads, uncles and father figures visiting classrooms and then heading out for a bite to eat.

SIBLING ENROLMENTS

If you haven’t yet enrolled a sibling for Prep in 2025, please reach out to our administration team as soon as possible. We are already planning our Prep orientation program for November, and we want to ensure that every child has the chance to participate.

PARKING RESPECTFULLY

We value the relationships we have with our Carnegie neighbours. Sometimes parents and carers park very close to or across driveways making it hard for our neighbours to drive in or out of their homes. We teach our children to treat their friends and peers with respect. We ask that you as parents treat our neighbours with respect and observe parking regulations. Glen Eira parking officers often visit to ensure compliance with the regulations.

I wish to acknowledge the traditional owners of

the lands on which this is being read and pay my respects to elders past present and emerging. I wish to acknowledge our First Nations people and pay respects to them. I note further that these lands were never ceded and are, and always will be, Aboriginal Lands.
