Stress is never the nicest feeling to experience, but unfortunately it cannot be avoided. Life has moments of tension (physical, mental, emotional), and stress is the body’s automatic response to these times. During short, hectic periods of life, such as studying for V.C.E. assessments, it is completely normal to be under stress.

Whilst a little bit of stress during Year 11 and 12 is good for productivity, ongoing stress is not (reach out to someone if you feel this way all the time), so here are some ideas from Art of Smart to help when school work becomes overwhelming.

  1. Be in control of your study

It is no fun finding yourself stuck in the following cycle because you aren’t doing the required work.

You are unique and hence will need to find ways that will help you be productive.

Do you need to:

  • create a planner?
  • ask yourself about why you are procrastinating (delaying study)?
  • stop comparing yourself to others?

2. Believe in yourself

If you’re not your own best supporter, who will be? Improve your self esteem by trying the following strategies.

Reach out to your support crew if you are feeling stressed, because Year 11 and 12 can be tough! This is not the time to try and do it all on your own.
