Wellbeing - Meet the Team!
Daniel - Youth Worker and coach. I have been working with young people for the last 8 years. My passion is helping people be themselves more often. I do that by creating awareness for others so they have a different experience moving forward. I run fitness and mindset programs, as well as one to one coaching on anything from mental health, to behavioural issues, and mindset strategies.
I love being outdoors, in nature, and do a lot of camping, hiking and running. I have completed multiple ultra marathon events, and my biggest run so far was an event in New Zealand this year, where I ran 108KM. One of my life mottos is, “to get out of your head, you get into your body. Movement is medicine…”
Matt - My name is Matt, I am one of the new Sunbury College youth workers. I actually went to Sunbury College during my high school years, finishing in 2018! Over the last few years, I finished my youth work studies and have been working in many different youth settings which has involved running physical health programs and mental health sessions. I really do enjoy interacting with young people and students, which is why I avoided an everyday office job!
I recently returned to Australia after living and working in London and travelling around Europe for the past year. I am also a very passionate Collingwood supporter. In my spare time, I love playing tennis and table tennis. I am a Victorian coach and I qualified for the Australian National Championships for table tennis so feel free to challenge me on the table!
Katy - My name is Katy. I am a Youth Worker and Counsellor with 13+ years of experience working with young people. I’ve worked in a number of schools, but Sunbury College has been the best by far!
I moved from the UK to Australia quite recently, and still have my funny accent. Although I haven’t been here long, I have loved getting to know so many of you already, and being able to offer you support whenever you need it means everything to me. I pride myself on being approachable, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to, no matter how big or small your problems may seem. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, horse riding, and shopping.
My favourite quote
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
EE Cummings.
Abbey - My name is Abbey and I am Sunbury College’s Student Wellbeing Coordinator. I am super passionate about working with you all and love being able to build connections whilst you’re going through different stages of teenage life! Having a Social Work background allows me to offer a wide range of supports that allow you to grow and succeed as individuals in whichever path life takes you!
In my spare time, I love going out on the weekends with friends to markets, parks and eating out at nice brunch spots around Melbourne! I am a loud and proud Collingwood supporter, you’ll often see me supporting & barracking at the ‘G’, cheering on my favourite players such as McReery, Lipinski and Maynard. I have a beautiful labrador puppy, Hazel, who I love very much. I have a very wide range of Spotify playlists, so feel free to compare and discuss your music taste when you see me around Sunbury College!
Tammy - Hi my name's Tammy, I'm the Mental Health Practitioner here at Sunbury College. I'm a social worker with a background in adolescent, family and couples therapy. I can offer counselling for a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, family dynamics, relationships, crisis and sexuality/gender identity.
I take a non-judgemental approach and incorporate CBT, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), Internal family systems (IFS), systemic and polyvagal theories into my practice. In my own time, I really like animation, hanging out with my cats and alternative music.
