The ARPS Student Voice Council has shown great dedication and commitment to their role this Semester. The students from Foundation to Year 6 have taken on various roles and responsibilities to organise engaging events that support community engagement and ensure that all the ARPS student voices are being heard.

In Semester 1, the Student Voice Council consistently questioned and surveyed their peers on information around free dress days, reward time and other relevant school community events. They attended regular meetings to discuss the implementation of various events, to ensure all students had a voice. These events include; the organisation of the Biggest Morning Tea, Harmony Day, Twilight School and The Family BBQ. The meeting provides opportunities for students to initiate specific learning space programs, including end of term reward time.

The Year 5/6 School Leaders attended an outside of school Leadership Conference, GRIP to empower our school leaders to make positive impacts in our school community. Through Social Emotional Learning lessons, our leaders educated their peers on the purpose and outcomes of the GRIP conferences, enabling all 5/6 students to make a positive impact and change to the ARPS community.

The Student Voice Council continues to organise and run whole school and area level assemblies, informing students of important events and recognising students achievements. For ANZAC Day students respectfully organised and participated in a special assembly, acknowledging its significance and paying their respects through poems and the laying of wreaths.

Throughout Semester 1, the Student Voice Council students have worked extremely hard. Their commitment has developed their leadership skills and empowered them to make a positive influence on our school and the wider community. We look forward to their achievements in Semester 2.

Foundation Students

Year 1/2 Students

Bethal: ‘I like being a leader as we get leadership experience from others.’

Bryan: ‘I like being a Student Voice Leader as it takes away my shyness.’

Alex E: ‘I am excited to be a Student Voice Leader because I’ll get to help the school leaders.’

Year 3/4 Students

Justin: ‘To me, student voice means all students, from Foundation to Year 6 have a voice and a say on what happens in our school. We work together to make our school the best it can possibly be.’

Zandrina: ‘Student Voice is an important role in the school to make sure everyone is heard. I also like how we get personalised badges and we attend the meetings like teachers.’

Alice: ‘I feel like being a student voice representative means that I am a role model to my peers. I have to be responsible and share their ideas with the school.’

Cindy: ‘One thing I like is that we attend special meetings and represent the Year 3 and 4s. When they have ideas I share with them during the school council, our ideas are then turned into actions.’

Year 5/6 Students

Alexa: ‘I like being able to share my peer’s ideas and making sure that their voices are heard.’

Thierry: ‘I like being a Student Voice Leader because I get to help organise school events.’

Crystal: ‘I enjoy listening to my peers and running assemblies.’

Hayden: ‘My favourite thing about being in the Student Voice Council is that I get to take ideas from other students and make sure they happen.’
