  TAKE NOTE WORKSHOP SERIES

Music students participated in a jazz workshop with members of the Melbourne jazz community last Friday. They learnt how to develop improvisation skills and received some really valuable tips on how to improve their performance skills in the jazz genre. It was a great insight into life as a professional jazz performer in Victoria, with lots of amazing performances by both the presenters and our students.

Congratulations to all involved in the workshop, and thanks to the Melbourne Jazz Festival for sponsoring these workshops across the state.

On Wednesday, the Woodwind Ensemble visited Kalkee Aged Care in Belmont, performing a selection of songs for the residents. They performed very well, and the residents thoroughly enjoyed the chance to chat with students after the performance. Many thanks to Emma Moffatt for making this event a regular feature in the music calendar. It is always wonderful to see our students interacting so gently and respectfully  with the older adults at the facility.

One resident, who is 102 this year, complimented our students on their beautiful manners, and said she always looks forward to seeing BHS students for a visit. And at 102, I think she knows good manners when she sees them! So proud of our music students
