Principals Report

I would like to extend my thanks to all the parents who took the time to attend last week's parent-student-teacher interviews. Your involvement is crucial in creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment for our students. These interviews provide an invaluable opportunity for us to gain feedback that not only celebrates the achievements of our students but also helps to identify areas where they can focus their efforts for continued growth and improvement. Together, we can ensure that every student is on the path to success.

Students of the Month – August

At Belmont High School we will be celebrating our students who display excellent learning behaviours with a regular “Student of the Month” award. There will be one Student of the Month per year level, twice per term. Student reports will be used to create a shortlist for teachers to consider against the below criteria:

  • Student shows exceptional application in class and overall effort towards their studies.
  • Student has a positive attitude towards learning, their classes and the school.
  • Student is always ready to learn by being in correct uniform, having all required materials and rarely needs to leave class.
  • Student may show some leadership qualities in the classroom.
  • Student’s academic performance is very good OR they have shown great growth in this area over time.

House Music Competition

Today, our school held our much-anticipated annual House Music Competition, an event that truly brings out the best in our students. This unique opportunity allows each House to pit their talents against each other, rocking out in the gym and creating an electrifying atmosphere that resonates throughout Belmont High.

I’m incredibly proud of the diverse skills and talents our students displayed today. Events like these remind us of the wide range of opportunities we offer, fostering not just academic growth but also creativity and teamwork. It’s what makes our school community so special.

I’d like to extend my thanks to all the House Leaders and our dedicated Music Department for their hard work in making this event possible. Your efforts ensure that our students have memorable experiences that enrich their time at Belmont High.

I look forward to sharing the results of today’s competition with our school community. Stay tuned!

R U OK Day

On Thursday 12th September, we will celebrate our school’s R U OK Day. This year we are holding our annual Staff Vs Students basketball match as a way to promote the day. Let’s hope this year is the one where the staff can get the win. Gold House will be holding a sausage sizzle as a fundraiser for this event.

Parent Survey

A reminder around the message that has been sent out via Compass regarding the ‘Parent Opinion Survey’. This data is invaluable as it gives the school a chance to reflect on how parents feel about their engagement in their child’s education. I encourage you to complete this survey and help us provide a better service for our school community. Thank you to those who have already submitted their survey. Parents have until 20th September (extended date) to complete the survey.

Photographing, Filming and/or Recording Authorisation

There are many occasions during the school year where Belmont HS staff may photograph, film and/or record students participating in school activities or events such as swimming, athletics and fun run carnivals, music competitions, camp programs.

This week all families have been sent (via Compass) the new Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy which outlines the practices that Belmont HS has in place for the collection, use and disclosure of images of students.

Also attached was the new Consent Form which we ask families to complete and return.  If the form is not returned it will be deemed that consent is not given to the options listed on the form.  Any consent given is deemed to be valid while students are enrolled at Belmont High, with the option to change consent at any time.

Final Day of Term 3

The final day of Term 3 will be Friday 20th September. Students will finish school at 2.30pm on this day.
