St Edward's Netball club

Just a couple of reminders leading up to the end of the season:

  • We will be having our end of season netball party this Friday 30th August for all St Edward's teams from 3.15-4.15pm at the Primary Campus. Please bring some party food to share. Infants netballers are able to catch the monkey bus to the Primary Campus after school.
  • This Saturday is the last weekend of round games. This means all under 10 teams will play their last game this Saturday. Only teams who have made the finals will play next weekend from the 11s and 12s.
  • There will be a small presentation for all under 10 teams after the 12 o'clock game.
  • This Saturday, Tamworth Netball Association are holding their annual Dotti Day to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation. Players are encouraged to wear something spotty with their netball uniform. This may be some spotty socks, hair, tutus, ribbons or anything you can think of. Please bring a gold coin for a donation.

Penrith Netball Trip

Good luck to the girls travelling to Penrith on Monday to compete in the CSNSW Netball carnival. Please make sure you have the following items.

Please ensure the following items are packed in an overnight bag.

  • Packed lunch and snacks for Monday plus snacks and or lunch money for Tuesday.
  • Drink bottle (plenty of water), sunscreen and netball visor (optional).
  • St Edward’s netball uniform including St Edward’s school sports socks.
  • Pyjamas/underwear and toiletries and a towel.
  • Sleeping bag.
  • Money for McDonalds or something similar on the way home on Tuesday.
  • Students are to come to school as normal this Monday 2nd September dressed in comfortable travel clothes and fully enclosed shoes (NO thongs or sandals). The bus will leave once all students are marked on the roll - no later than 9.00am. This will allow plenty of time for travel and convenience stops and an early arrival at our accommodation at Cable Wake Park, Penrith.
  • A message will go out on Compass with an ETA for Tuesday night.

Strictly NO DEVICES and NO FOOD to be consumed on the bus.

1. Spectator Behaviour - Code of Conduct

Please remember that Tamworth Basketball abide by the BNSW 'Zero Tolerance' Policy relating to the abuse of any referee, player, coach or official.

If our Court Supervisors witness any such behaviour you will be given a warning and/or asked to leave the stadium. It is important to remember that the referees are human, the coaches are volunteers, the players are kids (in the Junior comps) and the officials are only doing their job. More information relating to our policies can be found on our Website Tamworth Basketball Association | TidyHQ

2. Spectator Behaviour - Younger Children

We encourage all family members to come and support the players and referees during the competitions. Please be reminded that the Tamworth Sports Dome is a shared space with other business and organisations. Children can not be running around the foyer area, Rural Fit stairwell, grandstands or any other shared public space - this is for the safety of all users, staff and children. Please also be aware that children can not be running/playing around the edges of the basketball courts or seating areas - this is quite dangerous for the players, referees and officials. We have had quite a few near misses relating to this so far this competition and we would like to minimise the potential for a more serious incident to occur. It is the responsibility of parents to supervise their children whilst at the Sports Dome to ensure that their safety and the safety of other users is respected.

3. Rubbish

Please make sure at the end of your games that all rubbish is removed from the players benches, scoring benches and spectator seating areas. There are often other Sports Dome users that use the facility after our competition nights and we need to be able to leave the areas as clean as possible for their use.

4. Basketballconnect

Now that the draw is being finalised with most teams eligible for the weekly draws, all future draws for each competition will soon be available on Basketballconnect.

There will be from time to time some changes to the draws that will need to be made so I would recommend that you check the draw as close to the round game as possible. We also post our draws and any updates on our Facebook page and Website .

TBA would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding during the transition from Gameday to Basketballconnect. We are still working out a few issues in consultation with BNSW but we are confident that these will be resolved soon.

TBA thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you all on or around the courts soon.

AFL

Tamworth AFL are thrilled to introduce a new addition to their AFL team, Lachie Inkster-Bennetts, who will be joining them full-time in the North West from 1 July 2024. Lachie brings a wealth of AFL experience, having played, captained, and coached in Sydney and the North West. Many of us may already know him from his role as the playing coach of the Senior Men’s team at the Tamworth Swans, where he has been making significant strides.

Previously, Lachie served as our Development Officer in Sydney from August 2018 to November 2020, during which time he demonstrated his dedication to nurturing the growth of AFL at grassroots levels.

Tamworth AFL are excited about the opportunities Lachie will bring to expand AFL in our region. His passion and commitment are evident, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on the local AFL community.

Please make sure you sign up for the AFL clinic if your child is interested. Spots are filling fast.

NB: The Infants skills session will be held on the Infants playground/oval and the Primary skills session will be held on the Primary oval, commencing Tuesday 20th August for 4 weeks from 3.00-4.00pm.
