Principal's Message

Mrs Nicole Burden

The staff and students have had a wholesome week coming together as a school to learn, acknowledge significant events and celebrate the success of our students.

National Reconciliation Week

We started our week with an assembly to acknowledge National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Soaring Towards Zero Bullying

The program provided Stage 3 students with real-life insights and experiences surrounding bullying; taking away the shame, arming students with appropriate language and practical strategies to own, change and reflect on their behaviours.

Debating

Congratulations to our debating team on winning their first debate.

Last Tuesday our students participated in their first debate (virtually) against Rylstone Public School. The topic was: That students in primary school should change teachers throughout the year and not have the same teacher for the whole year. Eglinton were on the negative team.

Our team of Sofia Harris, Isabella Taylor, Leo Ruddock, Liam Davis, Cody Whalan and Amelia Toohey were the winning team.

Our next debate will be against Cooerwull Public School in a few weeks. We are also looking forward to attending a workshop in Orange on Friday.

Public Speaking

Congratulation to Ava, Leilani, Phoebe and Liam for progressing to the second round of the CWA Public Speaking Championships. The students will each be Speaking throughout this week. Congratulations to Ava on achieving second place, we look forward to hearing further results as the week continues.

Biggest Morning Tea

The school came together for our annual Biggest Morning Tea. We enjoyed sitting with siblings and friends in the Kindergarten Playground as the sun began to poke through the fog! Donations will continue to be taken until Friday. Thank you for your support in this important fundraising event.

Primary School State Championships

We have a number of students representing the Western Primary Schools representative teams in Newcastle this week.  Harry, Ella and Noah are representing in basketball and Fiona is representing Western in hockey.  We are extremely proud of our students and are looking forward to hearing how they enjoyed their week when they return.
