Thank you to all students who walked safely from home to school. What a great initiative to create healthy bodies and a healthy environment. Well done St Joseph’s on walking safely to school!

Wollongong City Council - Feedback Open for Council’s draft Wollongong Integrated Transport Strategy
We have developed the draft Wollongong Integrated Transport Strategy (draft strategy) to lead transport planning and investment across the Wollongong Local Government Area over the next 10 years.
The draft strategy outlines Council’s vision, guiding principles, and goals to improve the way we move around our city into the future and the actions we’ll take to achieve them. Until now, we’ve considered transport planning and delivery in a site-specific or transport-specific way. This new draft strategy takes a more overarching view of the city and lays out what steps we, Transport for NSW, and our community can take to ensure sustainable, accessible, and affordable transport options are available for our growing and diverse community. We are now seeking feedback on the draft strategy to inform the final version. Please note the last day for feedback is Monday 27 May 2024.
Find out more and provide feedback:

Parking - are you getting it right?
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents who follow road rules in relation to parking. You are keeping students safe and you are respectful of other road users and our neighbours. Great job!
A reminder that when collecting your children from school that there is a No Parking zone on Rowan Street. This means that you are not able to leave your vehicle and come into the school to collect your child. You must remain with your vehicle.
- Thank you for not parking in the park across the road from the school as it is a pedestrian area.
- Thank you for respecting our neighbours by not parking across driveways.
- Thank you for not doing u-turns in dangerous places such at the bottom of Rowan Street or by pulling into driveways in Rowan St to turn around.
- Thank you for not stopping or parking in the Bus Zone and No Standing areas at the front of the school and church on Park Road.
While at times we have some problems the majority of parents are respecting the road rules and other drivers. We all appreciate you.
Lost Property - Label, Label, Label everything
The school office has been receiving a lot of jumpers, jackets and hats with no names.
Please ensure that your child's name is on ALL clothing so these can be returned to their rightful owners. Any items that are not identified will be sent to the second-hand clothing pool.
We have also had a number of enquiries regarding missing items that have been labelled. Please check your child's clothing to ensure you have the correct items.

SJB Athletics Carnival
We are looking forward to our whole school Athletics Carnival in Week 9, 24 June 2024. Event information will be shared via Compass over the coming weeks. We will once again be seeking the support of our wonderful parent volunteers to assist with the successful running of the carnival. Please indicate in the questions tab on Compass if you are available when the event notification is sent out.
Over the coming weeks, Years 2-6 will begin high jump preparation and practise in PE lessons. Age competitions will then begin at school. Due to time limitations, it is necessary for us to begin the competition at school.
Gala Day Nomination Process - Yrs 3-6
This year, we will trial a digital preferential Google Form for students to indicate the Gala Days they would be interested in attending or an opt-out option. We are encouraging student voice via a new system this year in an attempt to overcome the impact of high numbers of students declining these events in the final organisational stages prior to the Gala date.
We are really looking forward to providing students in Yr 3-6 with some wonderful sporting opportunities at gala days, during PE and at our Athletics Carnival later this term.
The proposed Gala Days' dates are listed below for parents. If your child is nominated to attend a gala day, further details will be communicated to students at school and to parents via Compass.
Netball | 25 June 2024 |
Soccer | 23 August 2024 |
Basketball | 19 September 2024 Junior |
20 September 2024 Senior | |
Cricket | 17 October 2024 |
Rugby League | 14 June 2024 |
Dragon Tag | 9 November 2024 |
Gala Day Philosophy
All gala days strictly operate under CEDoW’s Gala Day Philosophy
The gala days are designed for students to enjoy the sport, try the sport out, have fun and exercise without the pressure of competition and winning. We are fortunate to have staff willing to organise these gala opportunities and prepare and train students in their break times, along with parents willing to act as team managers on the day. As always, St Joseph's Bulli is proud to see our students, teachers and parents maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all when attending our gala day events. We know 2024 will be no exception.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs Grose, Mrs Smith or Miss O'Donoghue.
