Student Life Saving Competition

Exciting News from Our Future Life Savers

Three dedicated Galilee students recently showcased their life saving skills at the Life Saving Victoria Junior Pool Championships held at Geelong Grammar on 19th May. Competing against a field of over 50 participants, our students took part in 10 challenging races including 3 relays and 5 core life-saving races, aimed at keeping young people engaged in life saving activities year-round.

Rocco (Year 4), Luca (Year 3), and Valen (Year 2), have been active members of the Port Melbourne Life Saving Club (PMLSC) since their early years as nippers. Following a successful nippers season, the club's Vice President, Tea, decided to introduce the students to off-season competitions to further enhance their skills.

With the support of the local community, including Teresa from Caffe Di Lido who provided essential nutrition for the students, our aspiring life savers were well-prepared for the competition. Training at MSAC on Saturdays and receiving expert training and guidance from the PMLSC, the students felt confident and capable in their abilities. Rocco and Luca also went on to represent PMLSC at another life saving competition in Mentone last Sunday 26th May.

Having achieved a raft of ribbons and placements at the recent competition, the students are now gearing up for the upcoming State Championships to be held in Geelong on Sunday 23rd June.

If you are interested in learning more about the PMLSC Nippers Program, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are proud of our students' dedication and commitment to becoming future life savers!
