Dear Families,

That’s a Wrap on Term 3!

When I look back on everything that has happened this term, it’s perhaps no wonder we’re all feeling ready for a break!

Alongside the incredible amount of learning happening every day in our classrooms and specialist areas, our students have enjoyed an enormous range of experiences beyond their regular learning. We’ve had our Preps celebrate 100 Days of Prep and visit Myuna Farm, where there was everything from milking cows to sheep shearing; our Grade 1s explored Melbourne Zoo; Grade 2 enjoyed a Poetry High Tea and visited Melbourne Museum; Grade 3 headed to Sovereign Hill; and some of our Grade 5 and 6 students ventured off to Somers Camp.

And that barely scratches the surface! There has been swimming, Book Week, Hooptime, the Australian Maths Competition, Winter Round Robin, the Girls AFL Carnival, rugby league gala, district and division athletics, Science Day and our Lego Masters evening, Father’s Day Stall, special lunch, Footy Colours Day, the Scoresby Secondary College Discovery Day and plenty more. We even welcomed some of our future 2027 Preps for Story Time and Teddy Bear Maths!

We also celebrated some outstanding NAPLAN and Attitudes to School Survey results this term. While the results themselves are certainly worth celebrating, what makes us most proud is the work that sits behind them, the commitment of our staff, the effort of our students and the support of our families. Great outcomes don’t happen by accident.

This term has also been a reminder of what a special community we have at Lysterfield. At different times, we have needed to step up, support one another and rally around members of our community. It really does take a village, and I am incredibly grateful for the kindness, flexibility and care shown by our staff and families.

So, to our staff, students and families: thank you. Thank you for the learning, the effort, the opportunities, the support and the countless ways you contribute to making Lysterfield such a wonderful community.

Have a fantastic and very well-earned break. I’m particularly looking forward to mine; somehow, for the first time in what feels like forever, it is dance competition free!
