Hello St Brendan’s Community,

Swimming

What an amazing term it has been for sporting achievements. Firstly, some very exciting news. A hug congratulations to both Maverick and Ellie for competing at Division Swimming on Wednesday at Rosebud. What an outstanding achievement to represent our district! A special mention to Ellie who came FIRST in 50 m Breaststroke. Ellie will now go on to represent our school in Regional Swimming in April. We are very excited for you Ellie!

Athletics News

Below are the students competing at next Tuesday's Athletics TRACK events at Ballam Park. There has been an update to the 12/13 Boys 800m to include Zac J. We are looking forward to an excellent and exciting day! Also, we have finalised the students who will attend FIELD Athletics in Term 2. This has been a tricky process, due to the fact that some students won multiple events but could only choose to compete in one. Therefore, your child may have been selected even though they did not come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd position at our own Athletics Day. Results have been on display in classrooms. Next week and in the first week of Term 2, I will organise a training session for each event.

CROSS COUNTRY and Running Club

In Term 2, on Thursday 1st of May, we will be holding our whole school Cross Country event. Zac and Abel in Year 6 have done an amazing job of organising a running club before school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All are welcome!  Additionally, on Tuesday mornings before school, all students who would like to start training for the Cross Country are welcome to join me on the oval. It was wonderful to see many students join in this week.

We are looking for volunteers to assist on the day. If you are available and would like to help out, please email me at tpeacock@sbsomerville.catholic.edu.au

Interschool Sport

Preparations have begun for Round 1 of Interschool Sports, commencing on Friday mornings beginning in week 2 of Term 2. We are currently forming teams to represent St Brendan’s in AFL 9’s, Soccer and Netball.

As this is our last newsletter for the term, I would like to wish our students and community a safe and happy Easter break. Thank you for your ongoing support!
