Harmony Day at St Brendan's,
Harmony Day celebrates diversity and inclusion in Australian schools and workplaces. It is important that we celebrate Australia's multicultural diversity, encouraging respect, inclusiveness and belonging for all Australians. This includes traditional custodians of the land to our most recent arrivals. We remind students that no matter where we come from, we all share the same values of freedom, respect, fairness and equal opportunity. At St Brendan's the students celebrated by dressing with the colour orange or dressing in the colour of the country which represents their own heritage and the students shared their own stories of where their families have come from.
We were also very lucky to have an amazing performer from Ghana, West Africa who played Kora (a mesmerising stringed instrument) and the students were able to try out the African drums and dance. The students had a blast, we were so grateful that Appia could visit us.
Happy Harmony Day!
