Learning and Teaching

STEM/Science
In Foundation we are learning about how things move. In this session we investigated what object will spin, roll, slide or bounce.
In Year 1 and 2 we have been investigating how applying different amounts of a push or pull to different sides of an object affects how it moves.
In Year 3 and 4 we have been learning about Forces. In this session we were investigating friction, and how different surfaces affect the friction of an object.
In Year 5 and 6 we have been learning about electrical energy. In previous weeks we looked at fossil fuels. In this session we were investigating renewable energy and made a model of a hydroelectric turbine to see how it produced electricity.
GREEN TEAM NEWS
During last Green Team meeting, the students again harvested an amazing quantity of cherry tomatoes, along with some zucchinis and capsicum. The pumpkins are continuing to grow vigorously and will be ready for harvesting next term.
After the harvest was complete the students continued to work on their gardening experiment: growing rosemary from cuttings! Rosemary, with its fragrant leaves and culinary uses, is a perfect plant for this hands-on learning project. The students have been experimenting with three different methods to propagate the plant: dipping the cuttings in honey, using plant cutting powder, and a control group with no treatment. All the cuttings have survived so far and we wait to see if one method grows faster than the others in the coming months. We will keep you updated in Term Two.
Here are some photos of the Green Team working together.
