Sacramental Programs at St Brendan’s

Fr. Shymon requests families seeking Catholic Baptism, the Rite of Reception or any other sacrament below for their children through the parish, to make timely arrangements,

as adequate preparation is required.

This is especially important if families wish to enrol their children in school sacramental preparation programs, including:

First Reconciliation (For Year Three students: Catholic Baptism OR The Rite of Reception is required prior)
First Eucharist (For Year Four students: Catholic Baptism OR The Rite of Reception, AND First Reconciliation is required prior)
Confirmation (Year Six students: Catholic Baptism OR The Rite of Reception, as well as First Reconciliation and First Eucharist (Communion) is required prior)

Please forward a copy of your child’s Baptism Certificate to the school office for administrative purposes if your child is baptised through the parish.

First Eucharist enrolment information was sent out to families of Year Four students via Operoo last Friday. Student Leadership News

Student leadership is another way that student voice is expressed here at St Brendan’s. Last week I had the pleasure of accompanying Mrs Carr, a group of student leaders including the SJAT, the school captains and vice-school captains to the annual Catholic Education Week Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral, followed by a concert in Treasury Gardens. I was so proud of how our leaders represented St Brendan’s throughout the Mass, with over 2000 students and staff from the Melbourne Archdiocese in attendance.

Lent Continues

The first project for the SJAT is to oversee fundraising for the Caritas Project Compassion Lenten Appeal. Lent is a time of fasting, i.e. giving up something considered to be a treat. It is also a time when we are especially reminded of the Catholic Social Teaching Principal Preferential Option for Those in Need, as we are called to ‘alms give’ and Unite Against Poverty through the Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal.

Will you give more, or give up something this Lent?

Each classroom has a Project Compassion donation box, where small cash donations are encouraged throughout Lent as acts of almsgiving. Families are encouraged to learn more about the work of Caritas, and contribute whatever they can electronically to support Caritas.

Christian Initiation for Adults: RCIA

RCIA stands for the “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults”. Our RCIA team is ready to welcome any participants who would like to enquire about becoming a Catholic. Adults who wish to begin or continue their faith journey through the reception of the Catholic sacraments are invited to contact the Western Port Parish Centre on (03) 5979 4374.
