Principal Notes

Wrapping up Term 1

Can you believe that we only have 2 weeks left of Term 1! It has certainly been a busy term, filled with sporting events and academic progress. We are looking forward to hosting our Small Schools Cross Country event next week - Wednesday April 9. Notes are available via Sentral.

Just a reminder that we have our Easter Hat Parade on Friday April 11. The parade will begin at 1.20pm. Invites will be sent out this week. School Photos are also being held on the final day of term - Friday April 11.

Reminder for Parents: Please Wait Outside School Gates

We kindly ask that parents and guardians refrain from gathering around the classrooms during school drop-off and pick-up times. For the safety and smooth operation of our school day, please wait outside the school gates until your child has been dismissed.

This helps ensure that students can enter and exit the school safely without distractions.

If you need to pick your child up early, please come to the office to sign them out before you go to the classroom. This is a Department of Education requirement.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping the school grounds clear and respecting these guidelines.

Thank you for your continued support!

Positive Behaviour for Learning Framework

To enhance our school culture and student outcomes, we are excited to implement the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework in the next term.

What is Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)?

PBL is an evidence-based, whole-school approach that focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours to create a safe and effective learning environment. By clearly defining expectations and providing consistent support, PBL aims to improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes for all students.

Benefits of Implementing PBL

Research has shown that schools implementing PBL experience:

  • Enhanced social and emotional competence among students.
  • Improved academic performance and school climate.
  • Increased teacher well-being and job satisfaction.

Looking Ahead

In the upcoming term, our school community will engage in activities and training sessions to ensure the successful integration of PBL principles. We believe that this initiative will not only promote positive behaviours but also strengthen our school's sense of community and support.

Feel Good Friday

In Term 2, we are excited to introduce "Feel Good Friday," a weekly initiative dedicated to enhancing happiness and resilience through the principles of The Resilience Project.

Introducing Feel Good Friday

"Feel Good Friday" is a dedicated time each week where students participate in activities focused on gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness—core components of The Resilience Project's GEM framework. These activities are designed to promote positive mental health and equip students with tools to navigate life's challenges effectively.

The Resilience Project: GEM Framework

The Resilience Project, founded by Hugh van Cuylenburg, emphasizes three key pillars—Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness—to enhance well-being. Research indicates that integrating such resilience interventions into education can significantly benefit mental health and academic performance.

Benefits of the GEM Framework

Implementing the GEM framework has been shown to:

  • Increase self-awareness and emotional regulation.
  • Foster stronger interpersonal relationships.
  • Enhance focus and concentration in academic tasks.
  • Promote a positive and supportive school culture.

We believe that by incorporating these practices into our school culture, we can support our students in becoming more resilient and emotionally intelligent individuals. More information will be provided at the beginning of Term 2.
