Harmony Day

On Thursday 20th of March, Good Shepherd celebrated Harmony Day! It is a day to celebrate all of the different cultures that are a part of Australia and encourages inclusiveness, respect and belonging for everyone. Our Year 6 Religious Education and Social Justice Leaders did a wonderful job leading our Harmony Day Parade. The Year 6 Wellbeing Leaders also presented a Prayer of the Air which was shared with the school. Here is what some of the leaders had to say about the day:

Matilda: Everyone looked amazing in their special outfits! We saw a sprinkle of orange too! This was our first Harmony Day Parade in our 7 years of being here. Harmony Day means bringing our hands together as one. Harmony Day was definitely an amazing day for everyone to share their culture to the entire school.

Catherine: Harmony Day is all about making sure everyone feels like they belong, no matter where in the world they are from. It also means coming together as a community and making sure everyone is treated fairly. There were many different colors and everyone looked very special in their outfits.

Maddie: The best part of Harmony Day this year was the parade because I got to see everyone in their special outfits. I am so glad that we got to dress up this year because I would not be able to do it any other year.

Thank you for your support with this special day which allowed us to raise money and awareness for Caritas Australia.
