Year 4 & 5 Secondary School Visit

Avila
On Thursday the 27th of March, many Year 4 and 5 students had the pleasure of spending the day at Avila College in Mount Waverley.
Good Shepherd was warmly welcomed by the principal of Avila College before experiencing what a day in the life of secondary school would be like. Many students were excited to try out the robotics, art, science, music and homeroom activities that were on offer.
Throughout the day, students were able to interact with Avila College students, ask questions, and gain insight into what secondary school life is really like. Many students left with big smiles, inspired by the possibilities that await them in the future.
It was a fantastic experience that gave them a glimpse into the next chapter of their education journey.
Many left feeling excited and motivated about what they could achieve in the years ahead!
Mazenod
On the 27th of March, the Year 4 and 5 boys attended Mazenod College. It was a fascinating and highly informative day which allowed both students and teachers to see and appreciate what Mazenod has to offer our students.
The day began in the lecture theatre where we were introduced to the staff and school leaders who would be looking after us for the day. It was wonderful to see that the school leaders assisting with the tour were past Good Shepherd students. The teachers in particular were proud to see the change in many of the boys there.
The day began with the Mazenod staff introducing themselves and explaining thescope of the learning at the college. They offered a large variety of career choices from catering to robotics. There were three activities over the course of the day: a science experiment (students were left wide eyed), sports (table tennis, basketball and volleyball) and finally, robotics. Not unsurprisingly, sport was by far the most popular. And the day finish with a short paraliturgy to end the day.
It was a great experience for all the boys and they have spoken highly about it, comparing stories and experiences all the way home on the bus.
