Secondary Schools Student Leadership Day - Parliament of NSW
On Wednesday 19th March, Phoebe and I went to Sydney for a Leadership Convention. We got to meet our local MP, along with many others from regions around NSW. We were then lucky enough to sit in on an active debate in the Legislative Council.
Afterwards, we made our way to Government House, where we found out more about the significance and responsibilities of the Governor. We were able to ask her questions about a wide range of topics, including the process of selection to be the Governor and their relationship to the British Monarch. Overall, it was a fun trip and definitely something to go to for those wishing to step up into a leadership position at some point.

On Wednesday, the 19th of March, Rory and I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Sydney for a Leadership Expo at Parliament House. The day was packed with insightful experiences, meaningful conversations, and valuable learning opportunities.
We had the opportunity to engage in a panel discussion with local members, where we gained insights into the roles and responsibilities of parliamentarians. It was a fascinating opportunity to see how decision-making happens.
We got to meet with our local member, Brendan Moylan. He took us on a behind-the-scenes tour of parliamentary offices, where we got to explore the Nationals' area within Parliament House. This provided us with an understanding of government proceedings and functions. We were even able to witness Question Time, which was an eye-opening experience in the workings of democracy.
We went on a walk through the Botanical Gardens, leading us to Government House, where we received a guided tour. We learned about the role of the Governor and explored the three Cs: Constitution, Community, and Ceremony, which are central to her responsibilities. After the tour, we were treated to a light afternoon tea while taking in the stunning views.
The day ended with a walk to Circular Quay Train Station, where we passed the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Although the day was long and packed with activities, it was a great experience that allowed us to connect with student leaders from across New South Wales.
