Wash Station

It’s sometimes hard to find volunteers for the less glamorous task of keeping our food stalls stocked with clean cutlery and crockery.  Scraping plates, loading dishwashers and tipping out manky wash water might not sound like much fun, but while the rain fell and fell on Sunday the lucky ducks of The Wash Station were right at home in the water!

The Wash Station is a big part of making our Great Lee St Fete as low waste as possible and is a great reminder to our community of our commitment to sustainability at school.

Thank you so much to our dedicated wash team:  Kylie Lee, Ellen Giblett, Krissy Fry, Mia Bromley, Rob Bryant, Michael Dunn, Brett Knowles, Mick Thomson, Stephen DMonaco, Imii, Laura, Annabel Barker (who got to help wash everything twice!).  And shout out to plumber extraordinaire Shannon Fry – we absolutely couldn’t do it without you Shannon!

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our Silent Auction! We are especially grateful to those who generously donated items or services from their businesses, sourced donations from others, and took the time to call, email, or follow up with traders and donors. A special thanks to those who assisted with processing vouchers, setting up the stall, and supervising on the day.

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to Hazell O, Emma D, Briony O, Bess B, Alison K, Violetta M, Forest T, Mike B, David V, and the amazing staff in the school office. Your hard work and dedication truly made all the difference. We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished as a team! Thank you once again to everyone involved!

Plants/Flowers/Toffee Apples

Thankyou for coming out in the rain and supporting the Plant and Flower stall and munching down a delicious toffee apple!!

Thanks to the following families for their very generous donations of flowers and plants which make our day successful:

Julia John and family, Safia Desai and family, Sarah Stoller and family and Sasha Koomen and family.

And the hardworking volunteers: Carli our incredible florist who works her hands like a magician all day long, Julia our amazing plant expert, Jan our fantastic all rounder as well as Andrew Zammit, Sarah and James Barker, Carlye Sinclair and Jules Hardiman. We all put in a huge effort across the day.

The plant stall is a fete classic and adds the leafy green and colourful flower eye candy for the community and for that we thank you!!

In addition the toffee apple team boiled another epic batch of molten sugar to dip about 200 delicious apples. Adults dipped and children wrapped and it was another year of special friendship and community in my kitchen.

 Huge thankyou to:

Jan Caruso, Timea Wotherspoon, Michelle Callow, Amanda Rocci, Vivienne M, Charlee, Evie, Laila, Mia, Sophia, Pip and Sienna.

Box Maze

A big thank you to everyone who helped with the box maze this year!

Thank you to everyone that brought in boxes for us- always fun to see who has bought a new fridge or furniture! And a huge thank you to our amazing construction team- especially Prue Perry, Sally Abbott, and David Mathews with help from Dave Houchin, Bri Wood-Ingram, Maree and Cam and all of the kids!

Each of you brought your individual talents to this years cardboard creation- sweating it out in the heat to make a fairy light bridge, a disco party, a village and scary zone. A truly magical wonderland of cardboard and tape! And thanks to the demolition crew of Prue, Sally, David M, Elena and Arlo and Poppy’s Granny Di! It was our most efficient demolition yet! So well done, team!Once again we managed to get all children safely back to their families- albeit with cardboard imprints on their knees- with big smiles on their faces! The number of kids that popped out and begged their parents to go back through was so fun to see! And made all that sticky tape worthwhile!

Thanks Team!

You are all a-MAZE-ing! (Yes, same joke as last year)
