World Down Syndrome Day
Lots of Socks Fundraiser Friday March 21st.
Today it is Lots of Socks Day, organised by SRC to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.
The aim of this fundraiser is to raise awareness and donations for Trisomy 21- more commonly known as Down Syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic condition – it is not an illness or disease. It occurs because of an extra chromosome. Our bodies are made up of millions of cells. There are 23 pairs of chromosomes, or 46 chromosomes, in every cell. Down syndrome is caused by the occurrence of an extra chromosome, chromosome 21.
All children are individuals and unique and have their own emotions, interests, abilities and characteristics that make them unique. The idea behind the Lots of Socks initiative is that all types, shapes, sizes of the same thing can be unique in their own way, and do the same thing. At CNPS we value each and every child and act upon one of our key core values- inclusion. We hope that this fundraiser will showcase this.
Thanks to everyone who wore colourful socks and brought a gold coin donation.
