My name is Emma, and I am a marine biologist. A marine biologist is a scientist that studies life in the sea. Did you know that 70 per cent of our planet is covered by oceans? Follow a week in the adventures of a marine biologist, and learn about our magical, mysterious watery world. Full of amazing facts, incredible creatures, and beautifully illustrated, this book gives you insights into:
whale monitoring and how these enormous creatures talk to each other,
how clownfish populations are increasing with the help of hatcheries,
how giant cuttlefish are the chameleons of the sea and communicate by changing their skin colour,
discovering a new species of sea snakes,
how humans are building reefs to help protect diverse marine life from extinction, and
how surfing teaches us to ride the waves and understand the ocean.
Rising above the desert plain, Uluru stands with it's ancient feet planted deep within the dry red earth. For much of the year, Uluru bakes in the kuli. But on rare days when rain-song beats, waterfalls cascade down the rock, creatures stir... and Uluru and Kata Tjuta burst into life.
Eleven-year-old Neeka Wilder has always loved animals. She wanted to be a vet one day, like her mum, who is the head vet at Wilder Zoo - where Neeka and her family live! Neeka is a great help to the zoo staff in caring for the animals. She also takes videos of exciting events at the zoo. When her videos are nominated for a big award, Neeka wants to make one more video to help her win it. But when Rebel, the cheeky red panda won't co-operate, her zoo key go missing and she's grounded for a month. It's a race against the clock to create the new video in time for the awards.
These books and many more are available to borrow from the Library.
