Learning Enhancement

The new school year has begun with a wonderful sense of calm purpose across our classrooms. As you move through the learning spaces, there’s a noticeable stillness and focus: students sitting tall with eyes to the speaker, bodies grounded, and voices quiet. Our shared expectations - the 5 L’s - are already shaping the tone of our learning in the junior classes: legs crossed, hands in laps, listening ears, looking to the front, and lips closed.

These simple routines create a predictable rhythm that helps students feel safe, ready, and confident. You can see it in the way children settle quickly after breaks, the way transitions happen smoothly and without fuss, and the way students lean into their learning with curiosity and respect.

It’s a credit to our students, our staff, and our families that the year has opened with such a positive, settled energy. We look forward to building on this strong foundation as the term unfolds.

We are also excited to continue sharing Catholic Education Matters, a podcast designed to open a window into the heart of Catholic education. Each episode explores the people, ideas, and stories shaping learning across our schools - from classroom and professional practice to wellbeing, leadership, and community life.

It’s an easy and engaging way for families to stay connected with the conversations happening in education today. Whether you’re listening on the school run, during a walk, or while preparing dinner, the podcast offers thoughtful insights into what matters most in our learning community.

You can listen anytime by visiting: catholiceducationmatters.captivate.fm/listen We’d love our parent community to be part of this journey.

This year, there will be a slight change to the classroom timetable and how we will deliver the Physical Education lessons. The specialist PE lesson will remain the same with Michael Thomas, while the second will be delivered by the classroom teacher as part of our HPE - Health and Physical Education curriculum through the RRRR lesson. The RRRR lesson will begin in the classroom, discussing strategies, such as, how to take turns and problem solve, followed by putting these strategies into practise with games outside.

This approach aligns with our commitment to the 4 Rs: Resilience, Rights, and Respectful Relationships. By embedding these skills into games and movement, students learn fair play, teamwork, encouragement, turn‑taking, and problem‑solving in real time. Our aim is to create a positive, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, supported, and ready to participate.

Students will wear their PE uniform on their PE specialist day and on the RRRR day.

We’re excited about this refreshed approach and the opportunities it brings for stronger relationships, healthier habits, and more joyful learning.

We want to extend a big thank you to all students who returned their library books from last year! Unfortunately, we had 19 outstanding books. Let's hope this year we have zero outstanding books.

It's been fantastic to see so many students visiting the library again, enjoying our new displays and extended space.  The dinosaur theme has been "Roarsome"

Pre School Storytime

Today I had the pleasure of hosting our very first Pre School Storytime. I was lucky enough to be joined by 17 preschoolers and either their Mum or Dad. We started with exploring our beautiful library, and read “The Very Cranky Bear”, before making our very own bear to take home. After a fruit snack, we enjoyed playing on the playground with our wonderful School Captains. Our session ending with singing some of our favourite songs. ‘Old MacDonald Had a Farm’ was a huge hit with preschoolers choosing what animal they would see on the farm.

A huge thank you to everyone who came, along. We look forward to seeing you all again on the 27th of February. New families are welcome to join in.
