Welcome to the 2026 School Year
Welcome to the first St Luke’s newsletter of the year. It has been a wonderfully positive and energetic start to 2026 across our school. Our Foundation students have settled in beautifully, already showing confidence as they learn new routines and build connections with their teachers and classmates. We were proud to introduce our student leadership group at assembly last week. Their enthusiasm and commitment to serving our school community sets an excellent example for all. Congratulations again to Braxton, Thea, Panav, Renee and Tash.

The routines and expectations established last year have been carried smoothly into this new year, providing consistency and clarity for students as they engage in their learning. With curriculum programs now well underway, classrooms are buzzing with curiosity, participation, and a strong sense of purpose.
Term 1 is shaping up to be a very full and exciting one. We look forward to celebrating Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday together as we mark the beginning of Lent—an important time in the Catholic liturgical calendar. Other key events include our whole school Mass, the swimming carnival, school photos, and a fundraiser in support of the Epilepsy Foundation. The year 5 & 6 students have new furniture that is ergonomic and looks great – adding colour and comfort to their classrooms. They are also looking forward to the Sovereign Hill camp experience later in the term. Each event contributes to the rich, community-centred experience that makes St Luke’s such a vibrant place to learn.
We are excited to witness the growth of our students—both academically and socially—as we continue to embed the explicit teaching model and strengthen our Classroom Mastery behaviour curriculum. These approaches are already supporting students to develop confidence, independence, and strong learning habits.
Karina Pigdon and Sarah Small are beginning their maternity leave as they prepare to welcome new additions to their families. We wish them both well and keep them in our prayers. In their absence, Kathryn Sait and Donna Allen will draw on their experience and expertise to teach and support Foundation Pigdon while we continue our search for the right teacher to take on Karina’s role on a more permanent basis.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We are looking forward to a wonderful term ahead and a year filled with growth, connection, and shared achievement.
Warm regards,
Jen McKillop
