Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,

A formal welcome back to everyone. The New Year has started beautifully. There is a very calm vibe around the school and everyone seems very happy to be back. I was amazed on the first day to see everyone seated and working at 9am. It was like they had never left. Our preppies are also off to a flying start and have already attended their first assembly.

Last night we had our first parent information session for the year - Raising Kids in a Digitial World. The feedback from everyone in attendance was that it once again incredibly informative and should be a must for every parent. We understand that everyone is busy and it is not always possible to attend these sessions. We will hopefully get some information out to everyone, as the content of the session impacts us all.

Privacy Reminder

Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ privacy policy and the Schools’ privacy collection notice.

Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students policy  https://sandringhameastps.vic.edu.au/community/school-policies/  describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.

We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Google Workspace for Education please contact the school.

For more information about privacy, refer to: Schools’ privacy policy: information for parents. This information is also available in eleven community languages.

Parent Reps

A huge thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to be their Class Parent Rep for 2026. The role of the class parent rep is to bridge communication between the classroom teacher and the parents in your child’s class. It is an opportunity to support the SEPS community by creating connections and making school life fun, welcoming and inclusive for all.  Class Reps are not responsible for concerns about education and do not replace the parent/teacher relationship. Please always speak to your child’s teacher or the leadership team directly should you wish to discuss anything to do with teaching, learning or wellbeing.  We now have a representative for every grade. Class lists are currently being created. We need parent consent to add your details to the list. This will be sent out via Compass. Once we have all permissions back, your class reps will be in touch.

Lost Property

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent, Josette Frost, for offering to take home all the lost property from last year and wash it ready for the 2nd hand uniform shop. The lost property mountain is relentless and grows daily. There are literally thousands of dollars’ worth of items sitting in the lost property bin. We implore you to please make sure every item of your child’s clothing and belongings are clearly marked with their name and class.

We are calling for a small team of parent helpers to oversee the lost property for us. It would involve occasionally sorting through the pile for names and returning items to classrooms. If you can offer a few minutes once or twice a term, we would love to hear from you. Please contact the office to express your interest.

Transport Victoria

From Jan 1 2026, public transport is now free for children aged between 5 and 17 years. To access free travel, all young people need to carry a Youth MYKI card and tap on and off each time they travel. These can be purchased for $5 online via the Transport Victoria website or from a staffed station or PTV Hub.  For more information please contact www.transport.vic.gov.au

Special Assembly

On Monday we will be having our School Leaders badge ceremony at assembly. All parents and carers are welcome to join us at this or any 3pm assembly on a Monday.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Parent Information Sessions on Monday evening.

Kind Regards,

Jane Briffa
