Visual Arts
We are very excited about our upcoming Community Arts Fair on March 27th! It's going to be HUGE. Please spread the word in the greater community as everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Our students have been working very hard in art last year and again this term to create amazing artworks and we have lots of guest artists from both the art and music worlds coming along. Food, music and art for a fun filled family evening.
Smocks A huge thank you to everyone who has brought their art smock in, but we still have many children who need to bring in one to protect their uniform. Please ensure it comes to school by this Monday, clearly named. Thank you.
Foundation Art- our beautiful new students have all been creative with a special heart project to wish you all a Happy Valentines Day!
Love Art!

Mandarin
Dear families,
We’ve had a very smooth start to the year in our Mandarin classes. Students have settled back into routines beautifully and it’s been wonderful to see them re-engaging with their Chinese learning.
Across all year levels, we’ve been revising previous learning, refreshing key vocabulary, and getting used to classroom expectations again after the break. This has helped everyone ease back into learning with confidence.
Our Prep students have been especially amazing. They’ve been enthusiastically learning how to say hello and goodbye in Chinese, and are already showing great listening skills and curiosity in their Mandarin lessons.
I’m really looking forward to a fun and productive year of learning Mandarin together.

Physical Education
Level F- 2
In PE this term, our F–2 students have been working on their passing and catching skills through netball activities. When practising chest passes, we’ve been using the cues “step, push, zombie hands” to help students remember how to set up and follow through. For catching, we’ve been talking about using “butterfly hands” to make a good target and bring the ball in safely. The students have really enjoyed the games and are becoming more confident each week
Level 3 & 4
In Levels 3 and 4, students have continued their work on territory and invasion games, shifting their focus to netball to practise these skills. We’ve had lots of discussions about the teamwork and inclusion needed in netball, as well as how the game differs from basketball. Students have been developing their attacking, defending and shooting skills, and they’re looking forward to putting it all together in small-sided games over the next few weeks.
Level 5 and 6
In Levels 5 and 6, students have been putting their game sense strategies into action while playing modified soccer. It’s been great to see how well they’re working together, encouraging each other and showing genuine sportsmanship. The students are really starting to think about how to use space, support their teammates and make smart decisions during the game.
Science
It has been fabulous to welcome our junior Scientists back to the Lab this fortnight.
Our smallest Scientists have met Albert, Wilko and Safety Sue. They are beginning to learn the importance of being curious about their world and are learning to use their 5 senses to observe.
Level 1 and 2 are revising the 5 senses. Level 1 have been introduced to Mr Potato Head, who reminds them about the senses. Level 2 have gone on a sensory walk to tune in to the sights, sounds, smells and physical environment of our school.
Level 3 and 4 are fine tuning their powers of observation through different sounds and smells. Additionally, they are learning to ask scientific questions.
Level 5 are also searching for details in optical illusions and they are learning the importance of more than one observation.
Level 6 have been studying different teas. Last week they studied the tea bag and this week they have used their sense of smell to detect flavours of different tea solutions.
