Important Term 4 Events:

Parent Information Night: Monday 9th February

5:30 – 6pm Level 4 Information Presentation

5 – 5:30 & 6 – 6:30 – interview time slots

Literacy:

To start our year off in literacy, the Level 4 students have been sharing what we find delicious about literacy. In our classes we discussed our favourite texts to read, whether it was favourite authors, themes, or how we know a book is going to consume us!

In our writing, students have been editing and improving passages to acknowledge how writing can have an impact on the reader. By analysing different stories so far, we can see how vocabulary in the literature we read can excite the audience, and how we can use these techniques in our own writing.

Numeracy:

In Numeracy the Level 4 students have been busy practising their skills when rolling dice to create numbers and learning how to use our calculators. We have been learning new maths games to help support our place value understanding and renaming knowledge. It's been a mix of times tables, addition, and number knowledge in our maths lessons this week, as we brush up on our number facts ready to dive into reading, writing, representing and renaming bigger numbers!

Inquiry:

This term we have a Health focus on our learning in Inquiry. We have started by looking at our own personal, physical, social and emotional health and creating some healthy goals such as spending more time outside, playing with our families and less screen time. We have revised how to make friends and getting along with others. Healthy strategies and lifestyles will become part of our Reading fluency passages and we will also link these ideas in our writing.

Well-being:

It's been a busy first two weeks back in Level 4 as we have spent time revising our goals, expectations, and routines for the year ahead! It has been fantastic working together as a team to discover the kind of classrooms the Level 4 students want to create, with respect and curiosity being at the top of the list!

Specialists:

Level 4 Specialists this year have been split into 2 groups - the Suns and the Stars. Students have 3 specialist classes every Tuesday and then one specialist on Wednesday or Thursday. We are still working on the 'ins and outs' but so far so good. Next Newsletter we will include more information including our Library days.
