Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 10 February 2026
Next week our school will be marking Safer Internet Day (SID) - a global day dedicated to helping young people stay safe, positive and responsible online. Safer Internet Day is celebrated in more than 180 countries and is led in Australia by the eSafety Commissioner. It’s a great opportunity to pause, talk and take simple actions that make the online world safer for our children. As part of this important day, all classes across the school will participate in an explicit teaching lesson dedicated to Safer Internet Day, focusing on safe online behaviour, respectful communication and making responsible digital choices.
Tips & Support for Families
We encourage families to explore these free, parent-focused resources to help guide conversations about online safety at home:
eSafety – Safer Internet Day hub (Australia) – Official information about SID in Australia and online safety tools.
Good Things Australia – Online safety resources - Tip sheets and ideas to support safe digital habits for families.
DigiTalk Online Safety Hub (Alannah & Madeline Foundation) - A resource hub with practical strategies, conversation cards and guides for parents and carers.
UK Safer Internet Centre - Top tips for parents and carers - Practical advice for online safety across all ages, including discussion starters and guides.
Start the conversation at home:
Safer Internet Day is a reminder that while the internet is an amazing place to learn and connect, it also brings challenges like cyberbullying, scams and privacy concerns. Talking openly with your child about what they do online, and keeping communication supportive and age-appropriate builds resilience and confidence in their digital choices.
We look forward to sharing how our students engage with Safer Internet Day activities at school and hope these resources help support safe, positive online habits at home too.
