A message from the Principal

Earlier this week, families would have received information via Compass and through students’ bags regarding the 2026 Parent Payment requests. While we have shared details about this previously, I wanted to take a moment to revisit the importance of these contributions and to place them in the broader context of school funding, which has been widely discussed in the news this week.

Recent media coverage has again highlighted the gap that currently exists between the level of funding government schools in Victoria receive and the Schooling Resource Standard set by the Federal Government. It is within this environment that we rely on the support of our community to help us continue providing the high quality learning experiences we want for every child at SKiPPS.

We fully understand that the Parent Payment can present a challenge for some families. It is important to stress that this is a voluntary contribution and we are always mindful of ensuring that no child is ever disadvantaged if a family is unable to contribute.

At the same time, whilst our government funding pays for the basic operations of our school, these requested parent payments play a significant role in providing the rich and varied learning program and opportunities we are able to offer.

The funds raised allow us to provide classroom resources, learning materials, excursions, incursions and enrichment experiences that bring the curriculum to life for our students. They also help us maintain our buildings and grounds so that SKiPPS remains a welcoming, vibrant and well cared for environment that reflects the pride we all have in our school.

We have been fortunate over many years to have a strong level of support from our community, with around 70 percent of families choosing to make the contribution. We are genuinely grateful for this support, as it makes a meaningful difference to what we can provide for students each day.

Thank you to those families who have already made their payment. Your ongoing support is very much appreciated and helps us continue to offer the rich and engaging learning environment that our students deserve.
