Mental Health & Wellbeing

Hello families! This year we will again be running our structured Wellbeing Room… The Burrow, a dedicated space at our school designed to be a "Safe Place" where students can Dig Deep, Feel Safe, and Connect.
Under our lens of inclusion, The Burrow serves as a place for students who need a little extra support to find their footing throughout the school day.
So what can it help with?
🌅 Easier Mornings: Support for the Drop-Off
We know that mornings can sometimes be a challenge. If you are a parent struggling with the school drop-off, The Burrow opens every morning at 8:30am.
It is designed to be an Anchor Point—a quiet, safe spot to aid with tricky transitions and separation anxiety. Our staff are there to provide a supported start to the day, offering:
- Reassurance that there is another safe adult there to help
- A consistent environment to bridge the gap between home and the classroom.
- An anchor place to help settle those morning nerves before the bell rings.
🧩 Recess & Lunch: A Sensory Reprieve
The playground can be a lot to take in. For students who find the noise and bustle of the yard overwhelming, The Burrow is available during recess and lunch as a space for Passive Play.
Instead of navigating the high-energy yard, students can access:
- Structured, sensory-based activities to help facilitate play and social connections in a calm way.
- A regulation reprieve for those who are easily triggered by loud environments or large crowds.
- Opportunities to engage in interest-based tasks and meet new friends in a quiet setting.
🎯 Our Aims for Your Child
Our goal is to ensure every student has the agency to succeed. By providing this designated safe space, we aim for:
- Increased engagement and participation in school life.
- Improved emotional regulation through daily check-ins and specialized workshops.
- Stronger social connections built in a space where they feel secure.
We want to collaborate with and support our families to ensure every student feels they belong. If you feel your child would benefit from visiting The Burrow, please don't hesitate to reach out to Jarrod.Rodgers@education.vic.gov.au
