Senior School
Looking Ahead: Goals and Aspirations for the Coming Year
As we bid farewell to another year in the Senior School, we look forward to the next chapter that will be filled with a range of exciting possibilities and opportunities in 2025. The past year has been a testament to the resilience, dedication, and spirit of our College community, and now, as we look ahead, we set our sights on new horizons.
In 2025, the Senior School will renew its commitment to embracing positive change and fostering innovation in all aspects of each student’s educational journey. We will be introducing new programmes and initiatives that are designed to enhance the learning experience for all our students, from cutting-edge technology integration to innovative teaching methodologies focussed on the development of a positive growth mindset.
The Senior School’s commitment to excellence remains unwavering. We will strive to achieve new heights in academic performance, sports, arts, and all other areas of school life. By setting high standards and continually seeking improvement, we aim to inspire our students to reach their full potential and become lifelong learners.
Next year, we are thrilled to welcome many changes within our senior school staff. We have several new roles and appointments that are specifically designed to support and enhance the student experience. These additions will bring fresh perspectives and expertise to our team, further enriching the educational journey of our students. Moreover, we are excited to welcome our new principal, Mr Michael Bond, who will build upon the legacy left by Dr Douglas Peck as he leads us into this promising new era with vision and dedication.
The strength of our College lies in its vibrant and inclusive community. In the year ahead, Senior School staff and students will focus on strengthening the bonds that unite us. We will promote a culture of collaboration, respect, and support, ensuring that every member of our College community feels valued and heard. By fostering a sense of belonging, we will create an environment where everyone can flourish.
Personal growth and cultivating a growth mindset with a firm Christian focus will continue to be at the heart of our mission. Students will be encouraged to set ambitious goals, embrace challenges, and view setbacks as opportunities for learning and development. Through a wide range of extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community service projects, Senior School staff will look to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are not only academically accomplished but also resilient and adaptive.
As teachers look to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world, student wellbeing will remain a top priority in the coming year. We will continue to provide staff and support systems to ensure the mental and physical health of our students. Initiatives such as counselling services, wellness programmes, and stress management workshops will be integral in fostering a supportive environment where students can thrive.
I encourage our students to not only focus on their personal aspirations but also consider how they can contribute to the world and their communities. The impact of their efforts should not be confined to the school environment. They can make a difference now, and it doesn’t require a student leadership badge to do so. Every student has unique talents and perspectives that can contribute positively to our school and beyond.
Students are urged to take the opportunity in 2025 to explore opportunities for community service, leadership roles, and collaborative projects. Think about how you can use your skills and passions to support and uplift those around you, both within the school and in the wider world. Your journey of making a positive impact starts here and now.
As we look ahead, we eagerly anticipate the milestones and celebrations that will mark the coming year. From academic achievements and sports victories to cultural events and community initiatives, we have much to look forward to. Each accomplishment will serve as reminders of the incredible journey we are on together.
Final Thoughts for 2024
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our entire College community. To the students, for your enthusiasm and hard work; to the staff, for your dedication and passion; and to the wider Senior School community for your unwavering support and collaboration. Together, we have made this year a success, and I am confident that our collective efforts will continue to bear fruit in the years to come.
I would also like to take a moment to recognise the vital role that parents and the wider community play in supporting our College community. The strong partnership between home and school is essential for student success. In the coming year, we look forward to deepening these relationships through collaborative projects, events, and open communication. Together, we can create a nurturing environment that empowers our students to reach their full potential.
I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year, ready to embark on another exciting journey together.
Christmas Wishes and Reflection
Christmas is a time for joy, reflection, and gratitude. As we celebrate this joyful season, we are reminded of the many gifts we’ve been given, both big and small. During this special time, let’s take the opportunity to relax, recharge, and spend quality time with our loved ones.
Christmas is also a time to reflect on the light of Christ that shines in our world, offering peace, hope, and love. Just as the twinkling lights on our Christmas trees and homes brighten the evening scene, so too does God’s presence in our lives bring light and warmth to our hearts.
These sparkling lights remind us that every good gift, every blessing, comes from above — a perfect gift from the Father of lights. As we look ahead to the new year, may we carry that light with us, sharing it with others and spreading joy wherever we go.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 (NIV)
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, filled with the light and love of Christ.
Mr James Avram
Deputy Principal – Head of Senior School
