What Did You Do At School?

Prep

As we end an incredible year, we reflect on the friendships, challenges we overcame, and the joyful memories we will treasure from our first year of school. Our performance of the Nativity story was a beautiful moment, helping us learn about the miracle and love of God through the birth of Jesus. We also celebrated our Writing Celebration, showcasing the tremendous growth in our writing ideas and skills over the year. There were bubbles of excitement on Transition Day as we discovered who our new Year 1 teacher and class would be.

Mrs Ashmore, Miss Newton, and Miss Wynne would like to wish all our families a safe and lovely school holiday. Thank you for a truly wonderful year of Prep 2024! We look forward to all the adventures that next year will bring. For more photos, please visit the Prep Nativity Photo Gallery page.

Year 1

As the festive season draws near, we find ourselves just a couple of weeks away from celebrating Jesus’ birthday. This is the perfect time to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents, and friends who have supported our students throughout the year. Whether big or small, your contributions have been invaluable, and we deeply appreciate the love, time, and dedication you invest in your children and their education.

We have joyfully wrapped up another year of school with a range of exciting activities. We celebrated our writing achievements, participated in Buddies activities, enjoyed the Prep Nativity, showcased teamwork in the Tabloid Sports, and experience a proud moment when we were acknowledged at final Assembly as we graduated to Year 2 in 2025.

As we reflect on a year of growth, learning, and community, we pray for God’s blessings upon our beautiful children and their families. May this transition into a new school year be filled with joy, peace, and continued success.

Year 2

We wrapped up the term with two busy final weeks! In Week 7, we were thrilled to share our writing with our families. After working hard all term, we proudly showed off what we had created. It was especially inspiring to see the impressive work our big buddies in Year 5 had completed, too!

As Week 8 rolled around, Christmas festivities began. We had a blast with all our Christmas-themed activities and decorating our class Christmas tree. There’s been so much to love about Year 2, and we can't wait to see what exciting adventures Year 3 will bring!

Year 3

What an incredible year! Mr Moran and Mrs Drew are incredibly proud of our amazing efforts and how we have grown academically, personally and in height. To celebrate how far we’ve come, we had an Amazing Race on Thursday 28 November. Puzzler Guzzler had us racing around the playground to complete a puzzle featuring our Year 3 teachers as Minecraft characters. A Scavenger Hunt sent us deciphering cryptic riddles to source objects and locations around The Barn. We put our VCOP and artistry skills to the test during Master Pasta to concoct a delectable dish that would make our tastebuds tingle. We worked as a team during Fictionary Pictionary to sketch familiar characters for each other to guess. Finishing the day with a heart-racing, invigorating Kahoot helped us remember precious moments from our year, before we venture into Year 4.

Year 4

We celebrated a fantastic year together in Year 4 by walking to Chirnside Urban Park and watching a movie. We had a ball going on the flying fox, climbing the equipment and eating icy poles. It has been a big finish as we completed our literature circle books, writing celebration, and Our Island Home projects all in the last week. We are thankful to everyone who visited our Writing Celebration to see our hard work in writing.

We are so appreciative of everyone who has supported our learning in Year 4 this year. We can’t do this as well as we do without the love and care of this community. We are thankful for you all and wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday season.

Year 5

Wow! What a fantastic year we had in Year 5. From going back in time at Sovereign Hill to soaring through the trees at Tree Top Adventures, we have grown individually and as a group. Every experience has helped us work towards being the people God has us destined to be. It goes without saying, the Leadership course we did with Mrs Liddle was another highlight. As you read this, the Junior School leaders for 2025 will have been announced. Whether or not we receive a formal leadership position, we know God has an amazing plan for our lives.

Dear Year 5,

Words cannot express how proud we are of you. You are a fantastic group of young people who support one another in everything. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

You all have bright futures, and we feel privileged to be part of your journey. God Bless you, Year 5.

Year 6

We felt honoured and celebrated at our Year 6 Graduation ceremony and dinner. During the ceremony we learnt about each student’s favourite memories, Bible verses, Junior School highlights and future aspirations. As we walked across the stage to collect our certificate, we felt proud of all that we had achieved this year and know that if we follow God, He will direct our path. During dinner, which was a delicious meal, we played Guess Who to match teachers with their Prep photo and enjoyed watching a video compilation of our school years. It was so much fun when the teachers joined with us, when we showed off our dance moves.  For a photo gallery of this wonderful occasion, please visit the Year 6 Graduation page.
