Junior School

As we approach the end of another remarkable school year, our hearts are filled with joy, pride, and a touch of nostalgia. Guided by our College motto, Wisdom and Virtue, and anchored in the biblical wisdom of Psalm 111:10, which reminds us that

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding,

we reflect on a year of profound growth and learning. From the first day of 2024 to this moment, our students have developed not just in academic knowledge but in character, creativity, and compassion. Each class has celebrated unique achievements, every student has overcome challenges, and together, we have created memories that will last a lifetime.

As we prepare to close this chapter, we are reminded that education is more than just academic achievement—it is a transformative journey of personal discovery and spiritual growth. Our dedicated teachers have worked tirelessly to nurture not only the minds but also the hearts of our students, helping them develop resilience, empathy, and a deep sense of purpose. We have witnessed remarkable progress in our academic programs, celebrated outstanding performances in sports and arts, and seen our students embody the values of service and community that are at the core of our educational mission.

As this school year draws to a close, I extend heartfelt gratitude to our parent community. Your unwavering support is appreciated, and we deeply recognise your crucial role in nurturing and supporting our students’ academic and personal growth. We celebrate each student's achievements, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to realising their God-given potential. Our extraordinary staff deserve immense recognition for their passionate commitment to teaching and their genuine care for every child entrusted to their guidance.

We sincerely appreciate the parents and friends who joined us for our Writing Celebration on Thursday 21 November. The students were delighted to share their writing with their loved ones. The personal interactions and feedback received were deeply meaningful to our young writers. Students took great pride in presenting their work, reflecting on their writing journey, and showcasing the skills they have developed throughout the year.

ROAR Awards

It was a privilege to recognise our final ROAR nominees for the year. The afternoon tea was filled with joyful chatter about upcoming holidays and Christmas excitement, all while enjoying delicious treats. We commend these students for demonstrating the core values of respect, obedience, acceptance, and resilience, serving as outstanding role models within our Junior School community.

Prep Nativity

It was truly heartwarming to see our Prep students take to the stage on Wednesday 27 November for the annual Prep Nativity. In keeping with a cherished Oxley tradition, the Preps confidently shared the story of our precious Lord and Saviour’s birth through song and narration. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Prep students and their teachers for the dedication and effort invested in presenting the timeless message of Jesus to our community.  For more photos, please visit the Prep Nativity Photo Gallery page.

Year 6 Graduation

On Thursday 28 November, we acknowledged and celebrated our Year 6 students as they marked their Graduation from Junior School. In the lead up to this special event, students and teachers worked together to craft heartfelt speeches, design captivating slideshows, and reflect on treasured memories of their time in Junior School. As these students transition to Secondary School, we hope they carry with them the encouragement of the scripture shared by Judah,

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guide your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippines 4:6-7

Please join us in congratulating our Year 6 students and praying for them as they prepare for this exciting new chapter in Year 7. For a photo gallery of this wonderful occasion, please visit the Year 6 Graduation page.

Transition Day and 2025 Class Lists

Ensuring a smooth transition into a new school year is a priority at Oxley. Our staff dedicate significant time and care to construct classes that support each child’s ongoing success in their learning journey. As part of this process, students had the opportunity to visit their 2025 classroom on Friday 29 November. They met their new teacher and classmates, received an overview of the 2025 school year and participated in activities designed to foster connection and prepare for a positive start. We trust this experience was enjoyable and has spared excitement for the year ahead.

Class lists for 2025 will be available on the Parent Portal on Wednesday 22 January 2025. We look forward to continuing the journey together as we embrace the new year.

Final Assembly

On Monday 2 December, we gathered as a Junior School for the Final Assembly for 2024. All students were awarded a certificate for completing a successful year at Oxley. The morning was filled with beautiful performances from the Performing Arts department, and we enjoyed celebrating the achievements of our students across Junior School. It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for this occasion. Thank you to all of you who came. I would like to congratulate the following Year 6 students for receiving the mentioned awards.

Staff Farewells

The end of the year brings with it farewells. We note the departure of Mr Dan Rodgers at the end of the school year and wish him all the best as he moves into his new school community. We also bid farewell to our beloved principal, Dr Peck. As Dr Peck steps into retirement after half a century in education, we know that his influence will continue to ripple through our community. The seeds of wisdom, kindness, and faith that he has sown over his years at Oxley will bear fruit in the lives of all those he has touched. We are deeply grateful, Dr Peck, for your tireless service, for being a living example of godly leadership, and for the laughter, lessons, and love you have shared so generously. Your legacy will live on in the countless lives you have impacted and in the values you have instilled in our College community.

Christmas Greeting

As we conclude this school year, we extend our warmest wishes to all our families for a blessed and joyful Christmas season. May you find peace and hope in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the most precious gift we can ever receive. In the words of John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This profound message of love, redemption, and hope is the true essence of Christmas—a reminder that God’s greatest gift was not wrapped under a tree, but laid in a manger, bringing light to a world in darkness. May your family be filled with love, grace, and the miraculous promise of God's enduring love this Christmas.

For unto us, a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of His government and peace, there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over His kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. Isaiah 9:6-7
