Celebrating Learning

Walking round the village we meet each other

The baker, thread maker and candlestick maker

Carpenter, blacksmith, beekeeper, toy maker

Sharing round the village we help each other

Let’s pass our roses round and dance together

Let’s pass this rose around and round the village…

…Round and round the village, round and round the village

Round and round the village, as we have done before…

We have been enjoying our sound rhymes and alphabet stories and now we are learning more about sound friends and how they dance together, introduced through tales of the Village of Yeki bood Yeki nabood. We have enjoyed sounding out and writing sounds the villagers make. “Thump, kerplunk” goes the woodcutter. “Bang, clang, zang,” the blacksmith, hum yum yummy for my tummy” the baker…

We have enjoyed making number lines hanging up clothes and dancing back and forth along them as we collect the washing. We have also been dancing back and forth over our numbered lily pads. In the world of Nin the number numbat we continue to tolerate Prickle’s subtraction antics. In the forest marketplace, using gumnut and seed pod currency, we have enjoyed setting up and playing shops.
