Celebrating Learning

There has been LOTS of talk about grade one and we have been sharing our feelings about finishing prep and embarking on a new year of learning. This year we have been focussing on building resilience by being brave, trying new things and being ok with things not quite working out the way we might have been expecting….. strengths that have prepared students for moving onto something new.

Literacy

As many students are drafting a fiction text, we are focussing on the beginning, middle, and end of a story. Students are enjoying our shared reading time and retelling the story.

Numeracy

We have just finished our unit on financial maths looking at money, worth, more and less. This culminated in students creating shops and both buying and selling items. Next we are revising place value and strategies for adding.

Outdoor Play-Based Learning (PBL)

Some students continue their investigation into belonging and home while others are creating, modifying, and adapting through construction.
