Principal's Report

Mr Phillip Gibney

Dear Parents, Carers and Community members,

As we come to the conclusion of yet another outstanding year, it's time to contemplate the remarkable journey we've shared. The 2024 school year stands as a testament to growth, accomplishments, and indelible moments that have not only shaped our students as individuals but have also woven a rich tapestry of experiences, making O’Connor Catholic College a truly special place.

From captivating performances and competitive events to special assemblies, extracurricular activities, camps, retreats, and Liturgies, each occasion has played a pivotal role in forming the unique fabric of the O’Connor community. The dedication exhibited by our students in their academic pursuits deserves applause. Outstanding and noteworthy achievements in the HSC, outstanding results in other external examinations, and victories in competitions underscore their innovative thinking, commitment to learning, hard work and being the best they can be. The collaborative efforts of students, parents, and teachers have undeniably contributed to the success of our students, celebrated at our recent Presentation ceremony.

Beyond the confines of the classroom, our students have excelled in diverse extracurricular activities, showcasing their talents, teamwork, and a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact. Whether in sports, arts, or community service, these endeavours have not only enriched their lives but have also brought honour to our college and their families.

The thriving school community owes its success to the steadfast support and involvement of students, teachers, and support staff. A willingness to participate in whole school events, various community events, and collaborating on various initiatives have strengthened the connection, understanding and culture of what it truly means to be a part of the O’Connor community. Our Vision of a Faith filled Catholic Learning Community, founded on faith and focused on learning, encapsulates who we are and pulsates through our school. Our students have unequivocally demonstrated their commitment to making a difference being connected to school and building a strong learning culture.

As we say farewell to our graduating Year 12 students and those from other year groups embarking on new opportunities elsewhere, we celebrate their accomplishments and the lasting impact they've had on our school. We extend our best wishes for their future endeavours, confident that they will carry with them the values and lessons learned at O’Connor Catholic College.

In bidding farewell, we also acknowledge and celebrate the positive impact of several staff members who have contributed significantly to O’Connor over the years. To Denise Fittler, Emily Wooster, Allison Nagle, Susanne Hughes, Brittany Berwise, Sophia Haggerty, Oliver Munday, Olivia Joyce, Bridie Giles and Roie Wood, we express our gratitude and wish them all the best in their future pursuits.

Finally, our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who played a role in making this school year a success. To our dedicated teachers and staff, thank you for your unwavering commitment to education. To parents, thank you for your continuous support and partnership. To our students, thank you for making O’Connor great, with the enthusiasm, passion, and the joy you shared with us every day.

As we conclude this chapter for 2024, let's all carry forward the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the memories created into the future. Wishing everyone a faith filled, restful and rejuvenating summer break.
