Loving God, thank you for giving us peace.
As we light this candle in your name,
We ask you to help us to be peacemakers in our world.
Amen
On Sunday, we celebrated the beginning of the second week of Advent, which is when we light the candle of Peace. During Advent we are given the opportunity to reflect on the importance of the birth of Jesus within our lives. It is a time when we prepare and get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
On Friday, 1/2VB led us in prayer and we celebrated the 2nd week of Advent. As a Catholic learning community, we lit the second candle, which is purple. The candle represents PEACE.
The second candle is called the Bethlehem Candle. This candle symbolizes peace and preparation, reflecting Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem and the peace that Christ's birth brings.
In the coming weeks, our learners will have the opportunity to unpack, explore, reflect and make connections to how relevant these scripture stories are in our world today. As a whole school scripture focus, our learners will be unpacking, reflecting and engaging in the following scriptures:
Week 1: Luke 21:25-28:34-36 HOPE
Week 2: Luke 3:1-6 PEACE
Week 3: Luke 3:10-18 JOY
Week 4: Luke 1:26-38 LOVE
As a Catholic learning community, our learners will have the opportunity to reflect and unpack the scriptures from Luke's gospel.
We come together as a school community to celebrate this special season with our Christmas carols. This event will take place on Thursday the 12th of December at 7.00 pm at St Fidelis church. This evening will be a great way for our school community to celebrate 2024. We invite all families to attend this joyous occasion.
Our Sacraments will be celebrated on the following dates in 2025:
Reconciliation: Thursday 20th March @ 6.00pm St Fidelis Church
Eucharist: Saturday 24th May @ 6.00pm St Fidelis Church
Confirmation: Sunday 10th August @ 3.00pm St Fidelis Church
This year, our whole school End of Year Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 13th of December at 9.15am. We invite all parents, carers and grandparents to attend this special celebration. As a school community, we will have the opportunity to celebrate and farewell 2024.
As we conclude yet another year, I wish you all a Holy and safe Christmas season. Enjoy your time with family and friends and I look forward to 2025.
Thank you and God bless
