Sustainable start to 2025
Welcome back to 2025! Hillsmeade is proud to be continuing to do our part in helping make our community more sustainable.
Did you know we have a recycling hub set up in the STEM space for those 'hard to recycle' items?
These items include tablet blister packs, bottle caps, batteries, whiteboard markers and pens, glad and food wrap bags and crayons. We also collect tetra packs, juice boxes, plastic bottles, glass bottles and cans as part of the Container Deposit Scheme.
If you have any of these items at home and would like to recycle them through our school you can send them with your child to bring into the STEM room.
You can also recycle some items at local shops:
Batteries - Bunnings, ALDI, Woolworths.
Pens, markers, textas - Officeworks
Table packets - Blooms the Chemist Casey Central, Priceline Pharmacy Thompsons Parkway.
CDS (Container Deposit Scheme) - Reverse vending machines located in multiple places.
The above items have to be sent for specialized recycling and can not be placed into curbside recycling. If in doubt, leave it out of your recycling bin to avoid contamination.
