Prep Update

Our Prep students have had a fabulous start to the year, brimming with happiness and excitement as they settle into their new classrooms and make new friends.

During the next few weeks, we will be focusing on adapting to school life, establishing routines and getting to know each other.

Our learning will entail the areas below:

SEL and Positive Start Program:

-Introduce the Zones of Regulation and strategies that we can use to return to the Green Zone.

-Discuss the School Values- Kindness, Respect and Resilience.

-Present and talk about Hillsmeade’s Matrix of Expected Behaviours.

-Take part in ‘circle-time’ to learn about our peers.

English:

-Begin our Little Learner’s Love Literacy Program (synthetics phonics approach). Our phonics lessons will begin with learning about the sound the letter ‘m’ makes and words that begin with the sound.

-Examine parts of a book.

-Practise writing our names, forming the letter ‘m’ and partake in fine-motor activities to strengthen our fine-motor skills.

Maths:

-Take part in our maths ‘daily review’, focusing on counting forwards, parts of the day, length and shape.

-Investigate positional language such as ‘beside’, ‘behind’, ‘in-front’ and so forth.

Inquiry:

-We will be exploring what makes us unique and how we fit into the Hillsmeade Community.

News and Reminders:

-Please ensure that all of your child’s belongings are labelled, such as hats, jumpers and water bottles.

-Students will not be required at schoolWednesday 12th February and Wednesday 19th February due to continued meet and greet appointments.

-Students have received a red bag this week with several items in them. These bags can be used as library bags once library sessions begin.
