Principal's Report

New Signage
You may have noticed the new signage around the school. As part of a marketing plan developed late last year by Practically Learning it was identified, based on feedback from parents, that our school lacked clear and adequate signage. This year I have invested in new signage being created and installed which features a new colour scheme for our logo which has a fresh and modern look. We now have signage on the corner of Sweyn and St Bridget's Rise, at our front gate, on our front reception door, at the entrance to our car park, at the front and side of our Parish Hall and for the Parish Office.
Trivia Night
Earlier this month we held our Trivia Night to raise funds for the school, specifically to replace part of the artificial turf on our playground. With about 100 tickets sold, members from our school community and Parish enjoyed a fabulous night and I congratulate the winning table who won the trivia night and were awarded the perpetual trophy.
Thank you to those parents who attended, who donated items for our silent auction and who approached local businesses for donations. Also, thank you to our amazing P&P Committee led by Leanne Lewis for organising the event. The event was a great success with $6,568.47 raised for the school. Thank you for your support and generosity!
Chess
Recently we hosted a Chess Tournament for students in Prep to Year 6 with 46 students from 4 schools competing including 16 students from St Bridget's. Out of the 4 schools, we came second with our highest scorers being Nicholas and Xander who both received distinction and a bronze medal. Well done to all those students who competed.
Book Week
Last week was book week and the theme this year was 'Reading is my Secret Power'. It was a very successful Book Parade with all staff and students dressing up as a book character and was well attended and supported by our parent community.
During the day the students enjoyed participating in a number of Book Week activities finishing with Snuggle Up with a Book. Thank you to Mrs Dunn for her hard work and dedication in organising the activities for the day.
Kinder Visits
This term our Prep students with their Buddies visited our local kindergarten at Friend Street. During their visit our students played with and read to the 3 year old kinder children. As a parting gift, so that the kinder children would remember our visit when talking to their parents we left a St Bridget's Show Bag filled with memorabilia of our school.
Gymnastics
This Monday was our fifth and last session of gymnastics which was run by Eastern Gymnastics. The children have enjoyed learning new skills in the area of gymnastics and for those students who already participate in gymnastics outside of school, I hope they were able to perfect their skills and show their peers their amazing talent.
This learning opportunity was funded via the Sporting Schools Grant provided by the Australian Sports Commission who are committed to supporting schools in increasing students' participation and opportunities in sport.
School Production
Please note, our School Production has been booked for Thursday 24th October at the Susan Alberti Auditorium at Siena College in Camberwell. Mr Bode is busy preparing our students and you will get to have a sneek peak at our Father's Day Breakfast this Friday 30th August. More information will be forthcoming in due course regarding the purchasing of tickets.
Warm regards,
Robyn Thomson
