Family- teacher meetings

Family teacher meetings - a partnership
Family – teacher meetings to talk about your child’s progress will be held in the coming weeks. Dates and times for Purple and Orange Groups have been set, and time sheets for families to select times are next to the sign in book. Times and dates for Green Group will be available soon. Family are your child's first and life long educators, your input into your child's learning is something we value. We are wanting these meetings to be a partnership between home and the kindergarten, where we work together for the benefit of your child.
At these meetings, we will talk together about your child’s progress, any concerns you may have, and together set some learning goals for your child for the coming semester.
While we as teachers have goals in mind for your child, we also want to hear from you and what you would like for your child. To be able to get through all we need to in the ten minute time slot, we have provided an agenda for the meeting. Copies of this agenda have been placed in Purple and Orange Group pockets. They will be placed in Green Group pockets once dates have been set for meetings.
The agenda will be as follows:
- Family to talk about how you feel your child is going at kindergarten
- Family to share any new information about the family or child
- Share the child’s chosen pages of their individual learning journal and the child’s reflections on those pages – led by the child if present and/or the teacher (Purple and Orange Group only).
- Discuss the child’s strengths – led by teacher
- Set goals for the child moving forward – family and teacher participation
- Discuss ways the family can continue to support the child’s learning at home – led by teacher
- Close meeting
The teacher will write notes during the meeting, a copy will be made for families to have a record of the meeting. A copy will also be placed in the child’s records..
