REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY

Thursday 13th June, saw the Gippsland Regional Cross-Country run at Lardner Park. Runners were competing against the best from all over Gippsland who were all trying to finish in the top twelve in each race thereby qualifying for the State Championships to be held early next term.

St. Laurence’s had six competitors who all ran strongly and they are to be congratulated on their efforts. Many thanks to the parents for getting our students to the event.

FRENCH/ART NEWS

How to remove paint from clothes:  If your child has dried paint on their clothes I have found that the best way of removing it is to spray it liberally with cheap (preferably no name) hairspray. Cheap hair sprays contain more solvents than more expensive brands. After you have saturated the stain give a rub or scrub with a nail brush then spray it with a good quality stain remover., then place in a regular wash in your machine. You may need to repeat this process, especially with blue paint.

French:  Quite a few people have told me they are practising their French at home. Fantastique! Remember don't be afraid to make mistakes. If you want to have fun watch your favourite film in French and have a guess at what they are saying. Even if you don't understand much, try to pick out words that you do understand.  Always make things fun!

EMPTY 600ml PLASTIC BOTTLES NEEDED:  I am collecting empty 600 ml clear bottles to recycle for an art project at the end of the year. I would appreciate any clean, empty 600 ml bottles that you have to spare. I also collect small (tea box sized) boxes, bottle caps and anything small which you think my students may like to recycle into art.   Please drop them off at the art room or library.   Merci.   Cordialement Mme Gatehouse
