IMPORTANT - Please message the program phone ASAP if your child/ren are booked in for an After School Care session, but will not be attending.

We need to account for every child booked into our care.  If a child does not arrive to After School Care in a timely manner our process is as follows:

  1. Check school attendance with the school office
  2. Call and text parents
  3. Call and text emergency contacts
  4. Escalate to a missing child incident and contact police

Your cooperation in letting us know in advance if a booking is no longer required is hugely appreciated.

This week's news:

Does your child love drama and craft? Beginning this week at OSHClub, we will be hosting a weekly drama and craft incursion each Friday afternoon until 13th Sept. All children booked in to attend After School Care on Fridays can participate. There are no extra charges applicable. For more information, please see the article below.

Our focus this fortnight is teamwork and cooperation. Children have been involved in plenty of negotiation regarding the establishment of rules, fair play and turn-taking around the table tennis table, which has become a popular resource during our cold mornings. Fort making using our movable furniture and noticeboards continues to be one of the most popular games children engage in regularly. Group games like these encourage children to practice inclusivity by playing with children they otherwise would not have a chance to play with.

What we have been doing and making:

IMPORTANT:

Please discourage your children from bringing small collectable toys to OSHClub. If they bring these types of toys to school, it is best that they keep them in their bags and out of sight while at before or after school care.

Ooshies in particular are very popular at the moment and children are very keen to trade. There have been some issues regarding permission, with children's collectibles being played with or getting lost altogether. Recently, there have been two incidents where entire collections of these types of toys have gone missing.

LOST:

  • One bag of 40 Lion King and super hero Ooshie's
  • Seven small Hatchimal collectibles.

If found, please drop them into OSHClub. Their owners would love them back!

SUN SMART POLICY

With spring just around the corner (and hopefully some spring weather!), children will need to wear a sun hat outdoors when the UV rating is at 3 or higher.

As school hats are often stored in children's classroom tubs overnight, please pop a spare sun hat into your child's bag for OSHClub. They are welcome to leave their spare hat at OSHClub or keep it with them in their bags.

MONDO FUNDRAISER FOR KALINDA PRIMARY

Thank you to all who donated to the Mondo fundraiser. We collected almost a full mini van's worth of used textiles, soft toys and shoes!

We look forward to finding out how much we have raised for the school.

Vacation Care

Our recent Vacation Care program involved a whole range of activities, theme days, excursions and incursions. We enjoyed a fantastic day animal-watching at the Melbourne Zoo. We journeyed to Melbourne Museum on another big day out, where children had the opportunity to explore their favourite parts of the museum. We also had a fantastic drama incursion with Drama Co, travelling on a magic carpet to exciting global destinations. There was plenty of role play and dressing up involved!

Below are photos from our excursions and from some of our favourite activities during Vacation Care: Making fluffy slime; painting pet rocks; and dressing up during our drama incursion!
